I have replaced and checked everything related to fuel except dropping the tank. Replaced and checked all fuel lines, installed fuel filter at tank, blew air through fuel lines (including return), pulled vacuum on the metal fuel lines (held vacuum), drained tank, overhauled SU carbs, and can't keep fuel in the engine fuel filter. I removed the valve cover to check on the fuel pump cam lobe. I'm able to pump fuel by moving the pump lever by hand at the cam. Is it possible that I'm not getting enough lift from the mechanical pump cam lobe? Or is there an issue with Delphi pumps? There is plenty of fuel in the filter I installed at the tank.

Has anyone found that the $80.00 parking brake cables from MSA (Motorsports Auto) are way too long. I couldn't figure out why my handbrake was nowhere near tight, so I took it off the car and measured 76" from end of clevis bracket to end of clevis bracket. I bought it a year ago and am just getting around to installing it...The Life of Riley (me)

I've been lurking in the community learning a lot of stuff over the couple of months, but this is my first post. I live west of Toronto, Ontario. I have an 04/71 240 that I bought back in 1994 (I'd had a couple of 240s and a 280ZX back in the '80s). The car came from Georgia, but I don't know much more history than that. I drove it summer and winter(!) for about five years, then garaged it when it started to get some visible body panel rust in the usual places. I managed to keep the car out of my mind until a few months ago when someone told me what was happening on BaT. I don't have any expectation that my car will ever be worth what some of those have gone for (and I ca…

RE: '77 280Z Situation: A pristine distributor (D6F4-03) and a dead vacuum module (22301-N4200) . Parameter: - It's a street driver; no vacuum advance is not a viable option. After reading every post with "distributor" and "vacuum advance" module in it, I have come to accept that I am in a very deep, dark hole with nary a ladder in sight. Thus, I would pose the following questions to this august body: - Anyone have an appropriate and operational vacuum module for sale? - Anyone know of a module that could be modified to fit the distributor? - Anyone have a phone number for a Breaker that could provide a working module, even if it is…

Got bored today (that's dangerous for my car" so decided to try something. I bought a 16oz of gumout with pea fuel treatment. I have heard good things about PEA as a detergent that really removes carbon. So on my test stand engine I rigged up a bottle with a feed control valve to the brake port in the intake manifold. Started the engine, well is seems my flow control was not really all that great, as I got a HUGE plume of smoke, lots of black gunk from every orifice of my rigged together muffler on the test stand. the engine ran fine, just hoping I did not get the fire dept called on me. anyway it went thru the 16oz in about 1 minute. stopped smoking. I looked w…

Hello Z family, Hope all is well!! I’m new to the forum and look forward to some great input from the SMEs. I’ve own a 260, 280zx and just recently purchased a 1973 240z to restore. I have the opportunity to either keep the original engine/4 spd manual tranny or replace with a 280zx turbo and 5 spd manual tranny? What would be your recommendation? Also, what do you think the estimate cost will be for a the overhaul of the engine. I have someone to do the tranny but may have to reach out to a shop for rebuild. Any Z specialist close to lower Alabama? Thanks!!

I have searched for improved alternatives to the OEM starter on the forum and there seems to be no information on the subject. California Datsun advertises a starter: " LIGHT WEIGHT AND HELPS START YOUR ENGINE FASTER. NO MORE SLOW CRANK ON COLD DAYS WHERE IT ALMOST KILLS YOUR BATTERY, THIS IS YOUR ANSWER! NO CORE REQUIRED. NO MODIFICATIONS NEEDED THIS IS A DIRECT BOLT ON. PLEASE SEE OUR OTHER AUCTIONS FOR THE STARTERRELAY KIT THAT ADDS TRUE 12 VOLTS TO EXTEND YOUR STARTER LIFE! " It certainly looks much nicer than stock but is there any functional advantage over OEM? The starter relay they mention is an extra $15. Opinions from more experience…

I recently saw a Z with what I think was a “European Air Dam”. I am curious if anyone has experience running one? Does anyone other than whitehead offer a similar style.

Hey guys, long time between post. I would like to share some good news. I picked up my S30 for $500 dollars. It had the usual rust issues, battery area, passenger side floor board due to ruptured heater core and spare tire well. But other than that being a Texas car and being stored on gravel it is pretty solid. The biggest issue which would have been make or break was the Rad Support. The car look like it had incident with a curb. The front of the front drivers side frame rail was wrinkled along with the Rad Support on that side. Someone tried to straighten it in the past with little success. To make long story short i couldn't find a replacement in the junk yards or onlin…

I just added this 73 to my collection. Can anyone provide any insight on the interior? My thoughts are to take the interior back to something period correct.
