Hello All. I have reciently purchased a beautiful '73 240 Z that is mostly body, engine, wheels & tires. I would like to know what other years & models of Z's are compatible to use for parts. Such as tail lights, door handles, A - Z etc. This is my 3rd Z car. Right now my fiance' & I own- '73- 240, '74- 260, & '75- 280Z's. L 24 motor- This Z car has rebuilt dual-flat topped SU carbs, I have been told that the flat top SU's on the 260's are not very good. I have also heard that the 240 had flat tops for 1 year & would like to know if they are the same or better than the 260's. Does the '73 240 have the electronic transister ignition or is it the basic …

Hi, First post here. Owned two in the past -- a 1972 240 during the '70s, and a 1976 280 during the '80s. Loved both. Loved 240 more but harder to live with. Would like to get back in. Request: can somebody with a 1972 or 1971 tell me the weight spec displayed on plate on the door jam? Trying to get an exact fix on the weight spread vs. a 1973 or a 260. I know it's come up before, but to avoid apples-and-oranges, it'd be nice to have that official spec. Many thanks. This forum looks terrific. Steve in Oakland.

I'm getting rid of a few items that are taking up too much space. It's all going on ebay. I had to set up a new ebay account so my feedback is 0, but I think a few of the hybridz guys I've bought and sold from are here and can vouch for me. Auxilary bought my old roll bar, 280Zone sold me a 4.11 R200, Clifton sold me a set of calipers. Here are the auctions: 4 screw SU's http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4555800082&sspagename=ADME%3AB%3ALC%3AMT%3A1 Toyota 4x4 Calipers (solid rotor): http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4555800854&sspagename=ADME%3AB%3ALC%3AMT%3A1 240Z NEW smog rail: http://cgi.ebay.com/…

I am looking at a choke knob for the 72 z. The right one has "choke" written on below the square. Any help to locate one would be appreciated.

fresh air ducts? 1 2 3

I have spoken with a few early 240 owners lately, and we all are wondering if anyone makes an aftermarket duct. This is the plastic, accordian-like thing that attaches to the radiator support and directs air into the fender and on into the interior. They all seem to be cracked or broken or missing. I am sure they are NLA from the dealer. Anybody know a source for these things?

I am trying to locate the part where a vacuum lhose labeled W2 goes to. I think it's a control pod for the heater's air intake, to recycle cabin air, or get fresh air for heat. I looked in the FSM, and the mucrofiche files, and still can't locate the vacuum pod W2. Even the guy at the radiator shop says there isn't one! So he left it hanging, and when you put on the heat, you can hear the air sucking. ? thx

Hello, I'd just like to inform everyone that there is a very clean 10th aniversary 280zx in "black gold" trim at the South San Jose Pick-N-Pull at 1675 Monterey Ave. It will be junked soon, as it is simply waiting to be destroyed by passer-bys who come to take it's parts. Everything seems to be intact, clean engine, The interior is imaculate with the original stereo and almost-perfect champagne gold interior. One of the quarter windows has been smashed and there are large dents in the drivers-side front fender and door, but seems to be far from "totalled" status, partly because everything else is so sparkling clean! If you're in the area, check it out. It would be a shame…

Hi Guys, I've had my Z for ~6 months now and have been repairing/tuning the car to get rid of all the common Z bugs/problems over the past few months. I finally have the car running great with a lot of new parts! So here's my question. I finally feel comfortable enough to take the car on a long trip, but with the current summer heat i'm afraid of experiencing vapor lock problems (everyone seems to speak of) if driven for a long period of time. I have never driven the car but for locally up to now (15-20 min at the most). How often does this problem occur? How hot does it have to be/how long before it happens? What exactly happens when you experience it (It's my 1'st carb…

Greetings, folks. I've been subscribed to this forum for a while as I look for an early Z to restore, and now I need some advice. My wife and I would prefer to restore a 240, but I've come across a early (smaller bumper) 260 that seems like a viable candidate. Some background - this will not be my first major restoration. One of my previous projects was a ground-up on a '67 MGB, so I'm quite familiar with rust and SUs. But I know my limits, I'm a much better mechanic and upholstery person than I am a body and paint man. So I have to pay others to do my body and paint work. This means that I generally try to buy projects that have bodies that are as solid and straight as p…

Now, I'm no business man. As a matter of fact, Mostly I put my ventures out of business quite well. But, in my take of business ethos, if your customer hangs up in disgust after 20 minutes on hold, instead of giving you money, that would be a bad thing. Am I too old fashion for modern retail method?

I saw that MSA had an A/C kit for 240Z's. My Z never had a/c. anyone have any feed back on this kit? is it hard to install??.. I've been thinking of doing an engine swap in the near future, and would like a/c. thought when I do the swap I can just adapt this kit to the compressor that comes with whatever engine I put in... looking for any comments on this... -dave
