Just thinking back when I took my stepson who was 17 at the time for the first ride in the 77Z. He got in and asked wheres the airbag and abs system? He didn't seem comfortable knowing that if I hit something it was just air between him and the dash minus the bag. And if I lock up the brakes, they be locked .I looked at him the same way I did when he went down the side of my car with his bike handelbars at 5. I explained to him that back in the day the only safety equipment was the horn and brake pedal ,and somtimes even the steering wheel if your hands weren't covering your face in a moment of terror. Even did the when I was growing up...... thing. He just seems to have…

I know that you are in AR and thought you may be interested in this: http://www.zcar.com/classifieds/index.php?method=showdetails&list=advertisement&rollid=23072&fromfromlist=classifiedscategory&fromfrommethod=showhtmllist&fromfromid=29& For $300 you could have yourself a 280ZX turbo and a 5-speed to pop into one of your 240Z cars if you like. Would be a shame to see these fine parts to to waste in the junk yard.

How to Modify Your Nissan&Datsun: Ohc Engine by Frank Honsowetz If you have this book, what do you think of it? I'm thinking of buying it if for nothing else than for interesting reading. My Z is stock but I'm interested in doing performance mods here and there over time. Thanks, Steve

Hi all, here is a link to some "interesting" body and exhaust styling of Japanese cars. There is even a 260Z and a 240K in there too! http://tanetane92.web.infoseek.co.jp/20050116tas2.html Does anyone know what the initial inspiration or the official term that they used to describe these cars?

I noticed this comment in Kats's Z Restoration Thread, not wanting to hijack the thread I'm starting a new one and wondered exactly what it is/was? 5.Steering lock mechanism/the one has currently available style,it's cylinder is relatively fat and a beeper switch is on the entrance of a key,but the other has early style which got narrower cylinder and a beeper switch is in the middle, right hand side.Do the judges mind it? I can't say I've seen this on any HS30 models. Was it unique to HLS30 models? MOM

The manufacture plate on my 72 (5/72, VIN 81167) says GVWR 2820 lbs, 1286 FR and 1534 RR. Perusing a lot of threads over the last 90 minutes gave me the impression the car should be about 400 pounds LESS. Any ideas what happened? Anyone have a similar finding? Car has no A/C, normal small bumpers, no excessive smog components...I'm stumped! Thanks, X

My friend who has a 1978 ,parked for 7yrs and a rolled over 1977 for 12 years. He always had dreams of restoring the 78 and using the 77 for some parts. Well today he told me I can strip the 77 complete to use for my 77. The dash is not cracked even when exposed to the weather for that long. I plan to fight the mice for the wiring harness (unmolested) to copy it and replace my bomb squad special harness.I will catalogue and keep most of the parts .The body is beyond salvage ,sunk up to the doors in the backyard. What shape do you think engine and driveline would be in after all those years???

Ok first off I did a search and found one thread about different Gross Vehicle weights on the door jamb plaque. BUT have you ever actually weighed your car? Today I did so at the local dump. My 1/71 build date car weighed 2420 with me in it. I weigh 185 so thats 2235. I then went and filled the tank and it took 13 gallons, so the weighing was done with about 3 gallons on board. I didnt know if it would be that light with the period slotted mags and larger tires The first Road and Track article on the Z gave an unladen weight of 2238.

Just a story I have to get off my chest!! Today at my girlfriends family gathering, a guy ask me how my Z project was going and then made fun of me for having a datsun, along with about 10 other guys standing around! AHH!!! THis made me so mad. I love the way the car looks and performs. THose SOB's will go down. I have to have the fastest, best handling, coolest looking ride. Need suggestions on what to all use as far as engine, suspention, etc. I have already decided that a V-8 will get put in it. Help me so I can make them eat there words, and so I can eat there corvettes. Thanks for letting me vent guys I needed that!
