In my recent research into the Nissan restoration program, while communicating with Les Cannaday (Classic Datsun), we came up with an idea for a spin off thread. Les is well known for his knowledge of the Z car and his attention to detail in the restoration of Datsuns. The purpose of the thread would be to collect enthusiast’s thoughts on "restoration and preservation". Being an original owner of a 1972 240Z I know that from the showroom floor not all Z cars were factory original. Mine had color matched mirrors and spook as well as American Racing Libre wheels. Now I know there are enthusiasts and there are purists, and their perspectives will be different on this …

Hi there, i just got a lot of 240z 260z 280z 280zx 280zxt and 300zxt parts and a few cars to restore. I am new to Datsun and would like to know if there is a database or schematics of manufacturer's part numbers available on the internet or in paper form. Lots of parts but no clue what they are, at least most electronic parts have numbers, but which car do they belong to ? Having a reference list would help me a whole lot. Thanks in advance "G"

Over the past few weeks, everytime I load up the club page, up pops an ad for cars for sale. Sometimes it even happens when jumping between threads. If this is making money for the site, then that's ok. But just checking that the site is not being hijacked by trusty used car salesmen.

Hey all, Right off the bat I'll say this isn't Datsun related but maybe someone will have some wise words of advice? So years ago I bought an ex-SCCA regional champ '73 Civic from some guy who used to race it out at Willow Springs. Same year & color as the Z & needing some assembly it was cheap and looked perfect next to the Z. Without getting into the nitty gritty of the Honda part numbers it's a 1.2L 4cyl bored out to 1.3L using forged Venolia pistons for a 78 Goldwing (yes motorcycle!), big valve head, big cam, 4-1 header, twin 35mm Dell'Orto DHLB, etc. After I had block honed, head re-freshed, and installed new rings/bearings I got it started. Ran fine for 3-4…

http://homepage.mac.com/hmtucker/PhotoAlbum12.html Not my car which is why I didn't place this in classifieds. The only info I have is that he sent a message to the ZCOT mail list asking what's a fair price and how to go about selling it. Little rust, sitting for 15 years. Contact info in link.

Does anyone know the weight differences between the different year 240z's? I know that they did get heavier as they got newer but dont have actual numbers to see the differences. Smog issues, bumpers+brackets etc, obviously made a difference. Just wondering how much. Also, do different L24's weigh more or less than others or have power differences when it comes do driving experience. E31 vs E88? Thanks in advance. Saro Fagerian

Never heard of a 280ZR before. Saw this magazine for sale on ebay with an article comparing the 280ZR to other cars.http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=2241&item=6942979639&rd=1 Searched google and found a 280ZR model. I guess its a racing version of the 280Z.
