Was told of a friend of a friend that put a Skyline in his early 280 Z. He bought the engine in Japan from the Nissan dealers along with the 6 speed transmission & had it shipped directly to San Diego, CA. The engine mounts matched perfectly and he had to move the transmission mount. All mechanical was done by him but electrical was done by another guy for approx. $2,000.00. Was told the overall cost was about $4,000.00. Has anyone heard of or has known of anyone dropping a Skyline into a Z car and what was their results? Claims to have 750 hp. and will do 180- 185 mph. Would like to know any info. Thanx, Stacey cornish_stacey@yahoo.com

I'm about to replace the head on my '71' 240. Can someone tell me if it can be done without having to remove the time timing cover and dropping the oil pan? I've tried this twice before and I've never been able to keep the chain on the crankshaft sprocket as the manual say you can. Thanks, JoeT

Hello all, I have just returned from Japan, and whilst there I was able to attend this year's joint meeting of 'CLUB S30' and 'S30 OWNERS CLUB' held at Sagamiko Picnic Land in Kanagawa prefecture on Sunday 7th November. Once again the event was blessed with perfect Autumn weather; clear skies and the low November sun playing tricks on golden leaves and car paintwork alike in this attractive Japanese day-tripper's location. The turnout was not as prolific as the 2003 event ( which was itself rather exceptional ) but it was still a nice informal and club-based meeting with a relaxed atmosphere, and a rare chance to see some nice Japanese cars in their home environment. A p…

I am thinking of buying at least the door kit to replace all the bolts on the door hinges etc. Anyone used these kits? Opinions? I would also like to replace the bolts associated with the front & rear bumpers including the bumper rubber to body bolts. Anyone got finished pics using the products?

I was at HarborFreight yesterday morning and picked up an air compressor and impact wrench and a few misc. tools to go with it. Its main use is for those occasional bolts attached to something that moves, such as flywheel bolts, cam bolt, etc where a ratchet isn't going to get it done. The compressor is rated at 5.0 scfm at 90 psi and has an 8 gallon tank. I realize this means I can't use it for continuous use, but as I said above, that's not what I bought it for. The wrench is supposedly rated at 260 lb-ft of torque at 90 psi. Yet I'm not getting anywhere near that. As a test, I loosened a wheel lug, set the wrench on its highest setting, and tightened the bolt a…

Hey, Im looking at buying a 240z as a daily driver. Im 16, and I already have a 1990 mitsubishi eclipse GS 5pd that I want to sell and I REALLY love everything about the 240z. Smog Exempt, RWD, most of them are sticks, 50/50 weight distrubution, and easy to mod. I am wondering if the 240z is right for me, because I am kind of broke =P. What are some things I should know about the 240z? Are they cheap to maintain? Edit: I have already crashed my mitsubishi eclipse and learned my lesson about speeding the hard way. I think im ready for a quick car now.

There is company that has recently brought out a air filter for autos. The filter has been in use for years on Motor Cycles and has the lions share of this market. It is a foam filter , polyurethane , and this type of filter has been extreemly sucessful on dirt bikes as well as street. It is in direct compitition with K & N and independant lab tests show it to be superior filtering the air of dust and dirt. The Dyno tests show that it FLOWS AS MUCH AIR WHEN DIRTY as a paper or K & N will when they are NEW. K & N claim that they filter best when dirty , but don't breathe and flow air. I have no connection with this company and my only exposure to them has be…

Has anyone ever seen this? a DATSUN "car-shield" ?! I found it in an Antique Classic Car showroom, hanging on the wall, and I asked if it was for sale, and they said they have no idea. So I asked how much they would want for it... I payed $1.00 ! hahaha.... Anyway, would this be worth anything? I guess it bolts onto the front grill, for looks or something. Anyone seen it before?
