Here's a nice example of just how far one of our members is willing to go to get a new engine for his Z. The story is that he just moved from Houston to Austin and shortly before doing so he had put a junk yard engine in his Z. Now that engine has died and the car is in Houston. Enter me. I had a complete running engine for sale but it was in Austin and his only car between he and his wife was now a Neon. Hmmm...how to get a Z engine from Austin to Houston when the only mode of transportation is a Neon.... Take a look at these pix for the answer! Suprisingly it wasn't all that hard to get in there...I can't say about getting it out as that was not part of the de…

Hey, How tall are most of you guys? I'm 6'2" and I'm wondering if I will be able to fit well into the Z. Last time I sat in one (I dont own one of these beauties yet, hopefully in good time I will) I think it was pretty tight but not so tight it was unconfortable, I wasn't driving the car so that might make a difference. I guess my questin is how tall is TOO tall? Thanks Chris

To those in the Southwest states, I went to a Big Lots discount store yesterday and was surprised to find a 1:18 dicast 1970 Z car model. The detail was mediocre, compared to the Kyosha I have here on my desk. All the series I details were there, except it had "Z" hubcaps as opposed to the correct "D" caps. All the models there, (4 of them) were dark Green with butterschoch interiors. I WAS going to buy all of them at $12.95 apeice, but abandon all my purchases and walked out empty-handed when I saw the checkout line bending around several corners and only one cashier on duty.

I am trying to find out information about a family owned car. It is a Datsun 200Z Fairlady. The car has a 240Z body (S30) but the L20 1998cc engine. It was built between 1969-1970 and sold in Japan. VIN/Chassis/Frame No:_ _S30 01712 - Note the lack of enigine identifying letter before the S number (they put a H for the L24 engine and and R for the later L26 engine). So by decoding the Vin number (using information provided by Nissan UK) the car is calssified as Coupe, Right hand drive, S30 (240Z), Number 1712. Engine No:L20 143383. If anyone can provide any information/correct any of the above I would be very greatful.

For Sale the next street over from me for $2K. It is rough, needs paint, carpets, rubber, cracking dash, but appears to be straight and fairly complete. It has ugly 15 faux spoke rims, cracked front turn signal, needs all new rubber, has ZX steering wheel, doors sag. But it has straight shiny bumpers and is a 2 owner, all numbers matching 1970 240Z, with original working everything including AM radio and emblems and has under 100K miles. Green with caramel interior. Owner says it runs very well. That doesn't push my buttons, as I think the mechanicals are the easiest thing on a Z car. Minor rusty spots in the typical areas like dog leg rockers, under battery tray, …

Now that my '78 280Z is nearing completion I am looking into "agreed value" coverage of the car. Probably somewhere between $12-$15K. I am looking at being able to drive it once a week and it will be garaged at all other times. My son has 4 years before he'll be old enough to drive it. My normal car insurance is with USAA and I have a clean record. On line quote from Hagerty is $218 - $259 per year. Sounds pretty good to me.

I was looking thru my catalogs for a new brake booster for my '72 240 and Motorsport had it for $US330, while VB had it for $126. How can there be such a disparity in price? I can't believe the quality would be that different. I could imagine a 10-30% difference, but +100% ??? Bill

Could someone post a link that has all the body style changes for the Z? Specs for each model would be nice too. I searched this site and google, but couldn't find anything that had a lot of detail. Thanks.

today while at work my buddy was jetting around in his 240. just sorta messing around. He has a MSA exhaust, and it hangs SUPER low to the ground. As he was entering the driveway i heard a loud scrape. Then the exhaust got really loud. Turns out it bottomed out, then ripped off the exhaust from the downpipe back. Man, did it sound SWEEEET. It was loud as all hell, but sweet. It makes me want to run open exhaust. but im sure the cops would have a fuss.

This is a topic that we've discussed many times with numerous "other" automobile fanatics. The letter Z is a registered trademark of Nissan, so does that mean that no other company, auto or whatever is allowed to use the letter Z, by itself in their products? The Z28 came before our 240Z's but Chevrolet never refered to their camaro as "The Z". BMW has a Z3 (or is it a Z4) but the number follows the letter. The corvette Z06. Do you see what I mean. All other companys seem to have some other letter or number proceeding or following the letter Z. Is that because Nissan has a trademark on the letter Z. Any opinions or comments. Vicky

Fellow Zer's Anybody using the Bullet Mirrors? I'm seriously considering these, as my original mirror is pitted and looks like crap. I know these are widely available in the UK, but seem kinda thin around here. I know 2intense sells 'em on ebay (not Talbots, but a knock off of) and they tend to go for around 80 bucks for the pair. Anybody now the quality of them? I've seen some on Ebay from a guy in the UK made of stainless, these look sweet. So....If your Z has these bullet mirrors, can you drop a link so I can take a look... Thanks, Dave
