I was having a discussion with one of the guys I work with, and he was saying about how my car looked and that it sounded like it needed to be shot. Really putting it down. He goes on to tell me that I should get something worth driving. Like a Pontiac Trans Am/ Fire Turkey wich just happened to be the car he drives. I told him, "I think that when I get my engine done, I would be able to hang if not pull away from you." Laughing he asked, What are you going to do.....better yet, what kind of 1/4 mile time are you looking to get?" I said, "I don't know, but I think it would be around the upper 12's. He then said that all he had to do would buy a $600 Nitrous set up and…

This does not seem to be a serious problem, but when I am going down a hill allowing the car to coast (no gas being supplied) it starts to backfire at around 2200 rpm or approx 55 mph. If I give the car just the slightest bit of fuel it stops. The backfire is not very loud but it is annoying and does not seem proper. Also, when I come to a stop before I start to move again I sometimes have to tap the gas a couple of times to get the rpms up above 1100, if I give it steady throttle from idle (900rpms) it chokes and dies. Ive checked my timing, running at about 20 adv and my plug gap is correct. Ive switched over to an electronic ign. from a later z and am using a gm ign. …

I picked up this P30 intake manifold on ebay for dirt cheap. I bought it mostly because I have never seen anything like this before. It is a nissan part and bolts up to my 240z head seemlessly. It looks like it might take the same stock carb as the 510. Anybody have any information about this manifold or the cars they came on. Intake picks much welcome.

Today, as i was driving on insterstate 780 with my girlfriend heading from vallejo toward Benicia I witnessed an accident RIGHT in front of me. 780 is a two lane interstate from vallejo to benicia. I was in the right lane, and there was a toyota carolla in front of me. A chevy suburban was merging into my lane from an onramp. I started noticing that the toyota was not slowing down to let this guy into the lane. They were about 2 feet from eachother when the carolla slammed on his brakes (obviously locked them), slid to the right shoulder, overcompinsated, and flew left across BOTH lanes, and smashed into the center divide head on, did a 180, then stopped. Luckly there wer…

i was just wondering what you guys think of fi vs. carbs. i have a 72 240z with all of the little inconveniences of the SUs (inconsistency, trouble starting, etc.) and i just got a wrecked 280zx. i know that FI doesn't hold a candle to carbs for performance (without shelling out major dough), but overall what is better? the reason i ask this is 'cause my SUs are killin me. i had to catch i ride to work today 'cause my carbs are jacked up again.. -jason edit: i DID do a search and i couldn't find a similar thread, but i could have just missed it.

There’s a very nice unrestored ‘72 for sale in Virginia. The price is a little steep for me, but I’m impressed by its condition, originality and documentation. ***CLICK HERE*** Less than 32K miles and a much coveted braided top radiator hose to boot!

I have unashamedly lifted this quote from Ben's (v12-horse) post in another thread.... I think we can now say that the z was not specifically designed for the American market but was "to be accepted world wide" - case closed!
