Just installed a new old combination switch, and because I had my headlights jury rigged through an external switch until I got the opportunity to install this switch, I fear I have forgotten the proper connections. So, here are the colors and gender of the lines I'm trying to figure out. This is on my 1970 HLS, so only those with series I cars have the same type switch.Coming off the light/wiper side of the switch are five individual wires, four of which are bullet type disconnects, which has led to the confusion. The other one is a spade type quick disconnect, black in color and that hooks up obviously to the only spade connector in the dash wire loom. A blue and w…

Anyone out there know where I can get hold of a "Gland Packing Wrench" for the front struts. (KV40100800) In the 75 Z FSM it's listed in section FA-21. Called up Kent Moore looking for this special tool (Kent Moore # J-25825-A) and was informed it's discontinued. Anyone know of a different P/N other than the Kent Moore P/N?? For that matter, anyone know of a different tool manufacturer that makes special tools for the Z that would be a functional equivalent?? Thanks... webdawg1

Just a small question for all the Z gurus. As mentioned on other posts many electrical items have stamped on them something that is indicative of the production source and date. On my engine bay inpection lamp securing arms I found the following: Lower Lug has stamped : MOz. Upper Lug has stamped : 2 Japanese symbols. Does anyone have any idea of what is meant by them and are there any differences with anyone elses? The stampings are easy to read with a light polish of the lug area around the securing screws. :beard:

Cloth braided hoses availability Quite a hot topic I suppose with the infamous $104 top rad hose on ebay. I have been looking into the availability of braided hoses and the likelihood of making them myself. I realize this is probably not what some of the early car purists want to hear, but for some people remanufacture or some kind of pattern part could be the only way to achieve the original look. What I have found is: The internal diameters sizes that are on the car are 10mm, 12mm, 15mm, 18mm and the 2 big rad hoses are about 35mm. Most are water hoses but the original fuel tank and breather hoses are also braided. I have been able to get cloth braid hose up to 15m…

Here is another car where a "friend" is selling an all original-unmolsted 240Z- it is a pretty car, but there are several parts listed as original that never came on a 240Z from the factory! Where is that Z search light! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=2482923246&category=6187#ebayphotohosting Will

Well, i was working on the z's cylinder head today to check it for cracks. I found two right by the valves in the 3rd, and 4th cylinders. No biggy i got a N42 with everything on it for 120 bux. What really sucks is while I was cracking the cam tower bolts loose (i know its a big no no, but the head is unusable anyways) I pulled as hard as i could then finally the sucker snapped loose. But, in the process my hand went flying toward one of the other towers at full force. 50% of my left pinky nail is completely ripped off, and there is a nice chunk of fingerprint missing. On the ring finger next to it there is a nice sized cut. Man working on cars is fun, but not when crap l…

Hey folks, I have an interesting backlog of old road and ttrack and car and Driver mags from the 70's. I love to peruse them time to time (although my wife thinks I'm a compulsive collector). Anyway a few days back I stumbled on a 1970 issue. Contained therin on a page devoted to miscelaneous ramblings was a report from Japan on the then new Z. The mag(Rand T) had already run the road test of the 240-Z But this was a report from the Tokyo auto show of 1970. It mentioned the Z432 vehicle, that was for domestic sale only ..then mentioned that Nissan was seriously considering a triple carbed 240Z for sale in the US by 1971. It would have been an upscale more expensive mode…
