Hi, I am very much interested in getting a 1971 240Z, and I just had some questions regarding the car. 1. How reliable are they, If i am driving around 5 to 10 thousand miles a year how much can I expect to pay in repairs and parts? 2. What is the aviliabilty of the parts? 3. Body Rust? I have been told this is quite a problem with the car, how true is this? 4. Is it hard to find a place to take it that can do work on them? 5. Would it be an ok car for a younger driver? (age 16-18) If there is anything else anyone can add to help me out I would appreciate it. Thanks!

I just picked up my 240Z tonight, absolutely gorgeous. Runs like a dream, drove her home from San Francisco. 83000 on the chassis, approx 10,000 on the engine. Freshly rebuilt carbs, and motor. Body is in good condition, no rust, new paint, small dent in the front of the hood, where someone ran into it. Needs some interior work, and some inside body paneling. Besides that it is in great condition. Picked it up for $2500. Pictures will be coming. :devious:

hey i'm new. I've been lurking the forum for a while in my quest to learn more about 240zs. I have already learned a lot just by reading old posts here, but i do have one question. I read that the triangle windows are the same from 70-78 but then came across this site : http://www.geocities.com/~z-car/specs/ and the 240z and 260z look very different body wise towards the rear. then looking at pictures on ebay i noticed i couldnt really see the difference the picture displays. maybe someone could clear this up. Also, im in the market for possibly a 240z on the east coast....are they hard to find over here? thanks in advance

Well... Since I had some of the car taken apart to do minor maintenance I decided to R&R the wiper arm assembly. Upon taking out the bracket that holds the wiper motor to the body, the rubber bushings decided to disintegrate after 30+ years... imagine that!! Anyways much to my unfortunate surprise I've learned that MSA only stocks the pivot boot, and according to the parts guy I talked to the rubber bushings are no longer available or made, same goes for the rubber gasket that goes between the pivot arm base, and the body of the car Does anyone know, or have a relatively good substitution for these items??? Thanks

My 73 has the original AC system installed. The PO had recently charged the Freon and I did get some cold air, but not very much. While I like AC, I really don't need it for this car. I'm getting ready to switch engines, and so I need some advice on what to do with the Freon. Assuming I'm going to remove the compressor and not reinstall it, is it worth it to go to an AC specialist and have them remove the Freon vs. just letting it vent? BTW, I haven't run it (no belt on it right now) since last summer, so I don't know how much, if any, is present. Also, I know Freon is very expensive. If I take it in to be "captured", is there some way to save it so that if I wanted …
