I may have found an L28 and 5 speed for a reasonable price ~200 miles from Dallas, but I have no real idea of how I can secure and transport it. I have a pickup truck that can more than handle the ~600 lbs I have seen the weights rated as, just no idea how to secure it properly for the trip home. No idea if the engine is out of the car yet or not, or if the seller even has a hoist available. I am waiting for a response back on those points. Anyone have experience picking up an engine/transmission in a pickup (4x4, relatively high off the ground compared with a normal truck)? Andrew

Not sure where I should have posted this, but you can be guaranteed that it ended up in the wrong spot. I am after one of two things, a few detailed photos of a battery hold down bracket for the 240Z, or a cheap one that someone is willing to sell me. Prefer one in Australia, but if its free, I guess the shipping would beworth while. Looked everywhere and can't find one here. Cheers Chris

in preparation for my upcoming move from CA to Omaha, Nebraska, I went out and purchased a car trailer this weekend. (3 vehicles, only 2 drivers, and the Z ISN'T going to stay in California when we leave) anyway, to those who trailer their Z's, my question to you - what kind of tie downs do you use ? I remember renting a UHaul trailer once to pull a vehicle, and it had a set of tie downs that wrapped around the front wheels (kinda like snow chains do) can you find these anywhere ? any suggestions would be welcomed !

Sorry for what is probably a really silly question. I just got my first Z. I am trying to read the older posts so I don't repeat any questions and I did not see this covered. I am able to open my doors with the door handle. However I can not lock either door. I have tried using the key and pushing the lock down. I have removed one of the door panels and I can see most of the lock mechanism, but I can not see what is preventing it from locking. I was just going to spray a bucnh of WD-40 in there and hope that it loosened something up. Does anyone have any other ideas? Also I can not open the hatch. I tried turning the key and pushing the button in. It will not op…

My stock antenna has finally died - thanks to a car wash attendant. I put my car through the wash and forgot to lower the antenna, went to pay and realized the antenna was still up, ran back to lower it before it went through, and to my horror found the attendant trying to lower it by hand. Needless to say, he killed it. He was gracious enough to offer to pay for replacement if he damaged it, so I'm in the market for a new one. So where's the best place to get a replacement? MSA? Which antenna works best in a 240?

I am installing an electric antenna in a 73 240z and was wondering how the antenna should be angled relative to the car: does it angle back parallel to the centerline of the car, or does it angle back and inward toward the centerline of the car? When I install it and attach the lower brace, it wants to angle back and toward the hatch, and when hatch is open the antenna misses it by about 3/4 of an inch when extended. Does that sound right or not? Thanks, Victor.

If I take the gas tank down to the radiator shop and have the inside washed out(acid bath? Not sure yet what they use.), do I still have to coat with the Por 15 product, or just leave as is? The tank has no leaks, just a bunch of varnish(no rust) from sitting for twenty years and the varnish is constantly plugging the electric fuel pump filter. Thanks, Victor.

Hi all, I swear this topic is Z related... gotta have some place to put the Z, right? So the place I've moved in to has literally a 10'x20' hole in the side of a hill which once was a garage. I know because I've found sparkplugs from the 50s and a couple tire tubes (!) (how long has it been since those were used) among all the other junk in there. Here's the catch, while the side walls and ceiling are concrete the floor is dirt. I've been leveling it out as best as I can for a couple weeks. I've begun setting up a work area in the back by first laying down two 5'x54"x4" slabs of concrete side by side at the far end. I've been doing it entirely by hand (mixing too) and get…

I've been looking at this 1973 flat top air cleaner(I am running webers but the flat top setup came as spare parts with the car) and there are 3 wing bolts that hold down the top of the air cleaner. The center bolt screws into the base housing, but the two outside bolts don't have anything to screw into and don't even reach the base housing. Since I have never seen this air cleaner attached, what are the two outside wing bolts supposed to screw into? Thanks, Victor.

I hope you guys don't frown on this post too much but I wanted to ask something pretty basic on spanners..:stupid: I have a whole box of them some are in MM like 15mm, 17mm others have fractions 11/16 etc... I normally find the best fit and use that one... How can i decipher the fraction ones and whats the difference between metric and imperial and are all the nuts on are Z's imperial or metric or a mixture?? Another question, i am trying to remove the pipe on the slave cylinder (on the right side of the gearbox). the pipe to the slave cylinder connects via a bolt, i think i need to use a flared spanner... i cant seem to find the right spanner to fit... on the case of the…

I replaced the fuel tank sending unit o-ring and it still seeps gasoline. Any suggestions on how to seal better? Is there some type of sealer that I could apply to the o-ring that might help with the sealing but not bond the sending unit in place? Wishful thinking probably. Thanks, Victor.

I asked this on a previous thread but no response: When I remove the retainer and try to remove the speedometer pinion assembly from the tranny, it is stuck. I don't know if there is something I am not doing correctly, or could the assembly be corroded in place and I just need to apply more force. Does it pull straight out or do I twist and pull? Anyone with this experience? Thanks, Victor.
