I know that I'm new to these cars and all but before buying one I just have to ask. Didn't these cars originally run on "regular" gas, not unleaded? If so what is everyone doing? Putting in a fuel additive?

I have just started looking for the stock style key. The round top key with the Z cut in it. Mine shows its age so......anyone know who may have some blanks? I saw that msa has them with the locks but my locks are fine. :sleepy:

Somewhere I saw someone mention their 10/71 240Z as being an "early" production date '72 model. My '72 was made in 9/71. Anyone know what the first month 72's were made? What about the first VIN? Mine is HLS30-47431. I'm assuming that the VIN numbers are in chronological order.

My first post here was asking for help establishing a value for my car. Surfing around this site has restored my interest in keeping it. It is a '72 "daily driver". Very much in original condition with 106K miles on it. The body is rough but it runs well enough. I am glad I found this site-what a great community.

After seeing all the beautiful pictures some of you have posted showing pristine clean engines and all the accompanying components in the engine compartment, I was wondering, how do you get them to look like they came from the factory without actually buying them new? I haven't taken down an engine or had to clean car parts since I was a kid back in the seventies! And back then we didtn't have to look over our shoulder to make sure the EPA wasn't watching us cleaning parts in a can of gasoline, then pouring it down the drain. What tools do you use to clean your parts? What do you do with the chemicals you use for cleaning? Can the parts be cleaned to near new condition or…

I provided some info a while back to Carl Beck concerning availability of original brand (Koito) headlamps which he believed may have been unavailable. I thought it may be useful to share here for anyone seeking complete originality for their car, concors events etc I recently purchased a pair of lights for my car from a well known West Australian motor parts company called Marlows, the lights were marketed under the Bosch brand but are actually Koito manufactured parts. The Bosch brand of products is huge in Europe and Oz so anyone wanting these should'nt have too much trouble. Hope this is of help to some people. Regards Lee
