Hi all. I am new to the Z community, as I have just purchased a 1972 240Z that is quite the basket case. It is all original, but has much rust, and a blown head gasket. At least I got a good deal... $300 for the whole thing, and it would still run, and even idle!!! I have the head off now, and am getting it machined smooth. I plan on just getting it running for now, and then tweaking it later. I can't wait to learn how to tune and set the round top SU carbs!!! Here is a question. What type of welder should I get? I would like one that is 110V, if it could handle body welding, and perhaps some frame welding... 208/230V would be ok if that is what it takes. I hav…

I'm looking to replace all my worn bushings on my car and I was looking thru a catalog that had an option for urethane control arm bushings (no adjustment) or a camber bushing set (adjustment of 1 1/2 degrees). I'm wondering if the camber bushing set is worth the trouble over upgrading the basic bushing set. It seems the camber set is good for more adjustment and also bad because its another thing to adjust on the vehicle. How much does tire size play in this decision? I'm sure use of the vehicle comes into play as well. I'm not racing just looking to have fun on the weekends. I have a similar question regarding tension/compression rod kits the aluminum socket and an…

This was sent to me by Summit Racing. This would be a terrable thing to happen. Your hobby is in danger! Proposed U.S. government legislation, U.S. Senate Bill S.1766, would allocate federal funds for state scrappage programs for vehicles more than 15 years old. In the process, it could threaten the very existence of our hobby by: *Destroying 1960s and 70s era musclecars *Scrapping 1980s performance vehicles like Mustangs, Camaros, and Corvettes *Eliminating many non-performance vehicles which provide an invaluable parts source Take a stand for your rights--and your hobby--by letting your U.S. Senator know how this bill will directly affect you. Log onto our webs…

I have recently got a 72 240z stripped down. I was interested in building a rotisserie unit to mount the car on while i do some restoration work. I have heard all you have to do is get 2 engine stands and build a jig to connect to the bumper mounts? Is this all there is to it? Has anyone done this and can give me some pointers on what to do? mabey some places on where to get the parts for this? Thanks.

Has anyone ever tried to do away with the air pump, check valve, control valve, A-B valve and servo diaphragm in relation to the exhaust system? As I see it these components allow fresh air to be dumped into the exhaust manifold to burn the exhaust gas.

Is there an initial setting that the Carburetor Idle Adjust Screw should be set at prior to balancing the carburetors? I'm not refering to the fast idle screw, but the individual carburetor idle screws.

Hi! I´ve been informed of a 74 Z for sale, 300km (186miles) away from my house. The car as far as i know is in bad conditions - abandoned - has documents and the engine runs. So i think that he probably doesn´t have a paint at all, lot´s of rust, some mechanical problems and a few parts missing, and i have to pay for a transport. Besides i´m starting a project to restore a full rust car (other model). So you ask: "And why the hell are you going to see the car?!!" Answer: I love the Z; Only 120 where imported to Portugal (30 years ago, 280 or 260 don´t exist); The owner wants 500 Euros (+/- 450 US dollars). What do you think? Is it worth it in a long term project?…
