Not sure if this is the right section or not, so feel free to move as necessary... A couple of months ago I got another car that I could use as a beater so I didnt have to drive my Z all the time. I decided that I wanted to put the Z key on its own keyring since it would no longer have to be the daily driver. Dont know why, but I just think it is cool that it has a keyring all to itself. I did the same thing with my Talon when it was no longer the daily driver. Its like I get more excited to grab the key when it is not sitting right next to my house keys. Anyways.... I wanted a cool keychain for it and decided on a piston keyring. I could not find one with a "Z" on …

  3. I found this project car that was kept under tarps in a not so nice part of Oakland CA. It had a Datsun 280ZX drive train with a custom intake with down draft webers. The swap was done 25 years ago. There was very little rust which was repaired and painted a nice BRG. I swapped the tired Z motor with a fresh one and put on some stock SU's. I had the 5speed trans rebuilt. Starts great, idles fine. Has petronix disti module that I had installed on the old motor and ran fine. I replaced the plugs, cap, rotor, checked timing, swapped out the wires, so I really don't think it is ignition related. The SU's are new to the motor (and me). A great guy that races Datsun an…

Hey everyone. My long terms goal is to get my 76 Z a little faster, a little sweeter, and a little meaner on a moderate, part time, student budget. ~ I found a set of 6-2-1 headers on a junkyard Z for $38 with a little rust, but salvagable. I'm thinking 2.25" tubing with a Dynomax turbo muffler, as it seems to have a pretty good following around here and doesn't require a separate resonator to cut down the interior noise, and the 2.25 tubing will help keep a little backpressure for midrange torque (Should I go 2.5"? please tell me why.) ~ Also, I'm thinking KYB gas non-adjustables, because they cut down on the "Squatting Z" syndrome and aren't as expensive as adjustable s…

I ordered some caliper brackets off these guys and paid via the internet. I asked first if they will work on my car and then sent another email asking if they had shipped yet, and if not when they will. I have not heard anything back. Are these guys flakes? Anyone ever ordered something from them? I realize side business' are just that and response times can be slow. http://store.zraceproducts.com/brakes.php

I live in Glendale Ca. and have charter as my cable provider that offers on demand which has a show called Magrack. They have a special on japanese sports cars that runs about 13 min long that goes into a brief but detailed video about the Toyota 2000gt and the 240z. For those who have it you should check it out. Just go to your on demand channel, then go to more on demand, then scroll down to Magrack. Once you open that section look for auto access click that and go to import tuners. I think its a great show and who ever has Charter should check it out. Thanks Saro fagerian

My radiator is leaking and I am looking for a new one. The dealer wants many $$$ for this so I looked on the internet and found a place called team radiator. They have a replacement for $127 with free shipping. This looks pretty good -- maybe too good. Has anyone had experience with these guys or any aftermarket radiator they would recommend? Any perils to avoid with one of these non-OEM radiators?

Just a few questions I wanna do some work on my 240z next couple of days. First thing is I'm going to be replacing the rear drums and getting the shoes relined. I was considering upgrading to the ZX discs but I've been told this mod is not worth while can anyone elaborate? The second thing I'm doing is replacing the front rotors with ZX vented units and putting a spacer in the caliper to allow for the bigger rotor. Does anyone have some cheap ZX vented upfront discs that haven't been machined below legal limit cheap? The third is the speedo cable snapped when i was down at Calper park raceway I don't wanna buy a second hand 1 and have it break on me again so does anyon…

i've been collecting sources for parts, articles, good tech threads, websites, etc. over the past year or so and figured maybe they would be helpful for others. not sure if there's already a good "resource library" on the forum, but i thought i'd post what i've got and maybe others could do the same. Disclaimer: these are just links and sources i've come across - no endorsement or business connection whatsoever, just trying to pass on what i've found. ZResources.docx

I'm starting a discussion about the Z Restoration Program. Far too often, I see the program described as "Factory", have been guilty of using the F word myself, and objections have been justly raised in the past about the misleading term. I hope to gather accurate information about the restoration program in a comprehensive thread. Please refer back to the thread "wow-just listed". http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15893&page=1&pp=15 where this thread idea started. I want to assemble a comprehensive discussion of the subject. There are many aspects about this program that apply, such as the financial health of Nissan in 1996 and the discon…

I gave myself a crash course in HTML and put my 'project' on the web. It's still a work in progress. I'm surprised that the URL was available.. http://www.project280z.com
