What's the difference??? (Between Z Models)
by Guest telston- 3 replies

I'm new to the Z scene, and have been searching the internet without luck in looking for the differences between the z models, why one is better than the other, etc. All I have found is specifications, the fact that the 1978 280z is more luxurious, and that the 1973 240z is officially a classic.. (I think it was the 1973). Anyways the reason I am asking, is that I want to buy a z, and have been swinging between decisions on which model to buy. I have no clue why I should buy one over the other (differences in looks, handling, interior, etc.) Please help!!! Thanks for any help in advance.. Trevor

I am located in Ontario Canada. My buddy has located a 260Z 2+2 in the Gilroy CA(south of San Fran)area that he is interested in buying. We are wondering if we could find someone to look at this car for us. We need someone who has experience in these cars. I need a new windshield wiper motor. Is it possible to put one in that has a variable 3 speed, so I can get a delay wipe for those drizzly Seattle days? If so what is maker of motor and what does installation entail? Thanks xs10shal@earthlink.net

Due to unforseen circumstances I am back to square one with my Z project...So are there any members in the Georgia area or know of someone with a clean, straight 240 or 280 z...I really need a clean interior or straight unrusted body..I'd like to drop a chevy 350 or a early Z 300 turbo in..whichever is the cheapest/easiest conversion..Any help given will be greatly appreciated..Also any advice is really needed..

Hi All, I had been having trouble with too much travel on my brake pedal before the brakes would engage on my 70 240Z. After new pads, bleeding and no improvement, it was time to take them apart. What I discovered is that there is a plunger which goes from the brake boost into the Master Cylinder and it has an adjustment on the end. It is supposed to be adjusted out such that with the MB spacer plate on the booster the plunger sticks out 3.5 - 4.0 mm - mine was a cm too far in!! After making the necessary adjustment and putting it back together the brakes are fine... ------------------

I am considering buying a 71 240Z and i need some advice. It is my friends and has sat for 7 years. First it has a lot of body mods like fiberglass hood, front air dam, and fender flares. When it was on the road it ran really hot and i think it would overheat. It is not the oringinal motor. It has a 280 z motor with a 4 barel on it. Its a 4 speed and the body looks fairly nice. Last how hard is it to get parts for these cars and are they expensive? Any ideas would help greatly. Also what should I look for and how much should I pay? I am new to 240Z. I have a chance to buy a 72 240z. The Z was hit hard in the front driver side. I am pretty sure the frame is bent. The engine looks good and the interior is in good shape also. I can get it for around $400.00. I would like to rebuild it but I was wondering if I should just buy this one at part it out. Any info would help!!!! Also is it possible to straighten the frame?

I have a 72 240Z my 16 year old son was in the process of rebuilding. He loved his car. He had a fatal accident in the car November 4, 2000. The engine should be OK and other parts. He also had a collection of parts books etc. I would like to find a teen who is in the same position he was in(love for the car etc.) and give him the parts to help him with his project. If anybody can help me I would appreciate it. NO PARTS BUYERS ETC. My name is Mark Howell 972-988-8609. or mark@howellsaircraft.com
