Hi Guys, Ordered a used copy of the Haynes manual (ISBN 0856962066) but while it says it covers the 280z, the only 280z/L28 content is appended at the end in a ~30 page supplemental chapter. Does anyone have a new copy of the book and know if there is more detail om the 280z and/or better integration of 280z content?

280z AFM lead? 1 2 3

while I have been looking over what seems to be some non OE wiring around the dizzy term block I came across this pic in the FSM. I see the lead coming from under the AFM a single wire that looks like a locking spade connector. I think the PO replace this with a ground wire (has eyelets one side bolts to the bottom of the AFM the other side to the chassis ground thru a mounting bolt that secures the AFM mount to the chassis). Can someone confirm this is what this wire does? I could not find anything from the wire harness that looks like the pic at the top of the page. AFM lead.pdf

Factory Horns 1 2

Hi, I am in the process of restoring a 6/70 car. I am curious if anyone remembers what color the factory horns were. The car was factory white but it was rattle canned white later in life. That is why the overspray in the first pic. It looks to me as if it was painted black at the same time as the radiator support. But when I tore it apart, the insides looked like an olive color zinc plating of some kind. See the second photo at about the 4 o'clock position behind the gasket. Any ideas? Thanks

Hey everyone! I'm brand new to the forums and have been looking around for the past year or so to get into the Z car community by finding a good project car. I found this one on consignment at a dealer about an hour and a half away from me and took a trip over to take some pictures and document it as well as possible. Unfortunately, the dealer didn't have time to get it on the lift to get good pictures of the underbody. The car has around 56k miles on what should be the original engine and transmission, but the dealer is also including a free 5-speed with the car. The owner is asking $14k for it, which I believe to be clearly over what it's worth. Before I go back more se…

Can someone confirm if the Green lead at the 2 term distributor block has a ground lead as well as the two green leads connected to it? My 1975 FSM is not clear on this, at least from what I could see in the actual wiring on the electrical chapter. The wiring diagram if I am reading it right does NOT show a grounding of the green lead. However on my car there is one, but it does not look factory. Furthermore if I disconnect it, the ign will not fire. IF I have the ign in the on position and start to remove it (causing an intermittent connect of the green wire to ground) the ign will fire (I can see the spark at the coil and here the injectors firing). Some other test…

Just a thought I have had wanting some of your opinions on. I have been collecting parts to swap my 280z over to carbs for about a year now. And between that and replacing bushing I am finally at a point where I have to make the final decision (for now) if I want to stay fuel injected or if I want to go with the carb/cam setup I have collected the parts for. I am doing the research right now to make sure I have all the parts, but my question is this would it be worth it to buy one of the universal wiring kits and rewire the whole car? I know a lot of wiring can be removed when going to the carb but it would also allow me to replace the old wiring and give it a cleaner loo…

So this one is an odd one to me as I've never experienced symptoms like this, and I'm curious what some of the more experienced L28 gurus think. I recently rebuilt an L28et for a friend of mine, which started from an external head gasket leak. Took the head (p90a) to a reputable machine shop, partly because they were the only ones around here that would actually straighten the head before resurfacing. He had the head for a few months (I believe he worked on it in his free time), but once I received it back, took roughly 3 months before it was running in the car. First startup everything was great, drove it easily for a couple miles, brought it back and p…

The ca ris in excellent shape as photos will show…I guess this car was restored or deep painted some years ago. Next week We’ll have at least one door rebuilt, below the doors and inside need some intervention. Here are some photos… Rear window acquisition…the car has the horizontal defrost lines and aren’t the correct…I found one vertical and job done…a few years ago…
