While futzing with my car I decided to check the operation of the carbon canister. The only real function is the vacuum controlled valve the activate the purge cycle (pull vapor from the can to the engine intake vacuum). What I found was the valve would not close in the absence of vacuum at the signal line (ported vacuum small hose). I test it using a hand pump and vigorously pumping. Now maybe in the presence of a constant vacuum source it would "catch", the design of the valve would tend to do this. I could make it catch by simply applying some pressure to the top of the valve, but that was not enough for me. I removed the valve cap, and found a good diaphragm, but it h…

Some of you will remember me (LBO730 - Bryan) from a few years back for developing the reproduction early style shift boots, emergency brake boots etc. for the early Z cars. You guys gave me overwhelmingly great support on that project. I'm still doing lots of stuff in upholstery and leathercraft. You can see a photo of the leather interior I did in my 75 280 in my photos. I wanted to see if you guys think there would be any interest in good quality leather wallets, key fobs, belts, wrist cuffs, mouse pads, phone cases, guitar straps, coasters etc. and maybe even purses & totes for the Z crazy females, all of which would be customized with something Z related. IE …

I bought a 240z recently that was originally from AZ and was in storage for a long time. The car has an original Nissan exhaust system on it - exhaust manifold, front pipe, center section and rear. The original part numbers are embossed on the center resonator and the rear muffler (20050-E4150 and 20100-E4150 respectively). Both are in very good condition. 95% of the hardware is there also including the clamps, hangers, and chrome exhaust tip. Any ideas on what it's worth? I am going to restore the car, but not don't know if I will keep these parts on it.

I was researching a number of articles in the Tech Article Sections and noticed that many of them that had embedded links were dead links. Some were pictures, some were links to other articles. Is there some way to get to this information or are they just obsolete?

Recently while I was reinstalling my exhaust I happened to notice my rear most vent hose (180 degree section) has collapsed. So After reading most of the prior posts I could locate, I have two basic questions: -what is the inside diameter of the upper rear vent tube on the tank? -is the inside diameter of the hose that connects to that tube “critical”? help is appreciated.

As many of you are aware, I brought my 72 S30 to SZR Pro, in Houston, Texas, for a top to bottom evaluation of the car, and for any resultant work. The car was there for many weeks. When I picked it up, I had a long conversation with the mechanic who did most of the actual work on the car. He told me that he really liked the car and had been doing burnouts in it. I’ve been extremely dissatisfied with the quality of SZR’s work. I’ve been recently going back and forth with Brad, SZR’s manager, about the propriety of the burnouts. He gave the following explanation: “No, he didn't admit that he did burnouts in your car, but burnouts in sports cars on private pro…

Looking for a little expertise from this forum. I have a Datsun 240Z that has been stored in my garage for over 25 years. It's all stock, but is missing the transmission. It's spent it's entire life in Southern California so the body is still in good shape. It hasn't been driven since 1989. I've been lead to believe that because it's one of the early cars imported into the USA, and because it's all original components, it's rare to find these days. The VIN is in the low 2000's. Is it best to offer this through eBay? What should I know or do before I offer for sale? Thanks all

Hi guys I rarely see this reinforcement plate on cars. I will remove it when I refurb & paint. I suspect my 73 has the wrong bumpers as they fit terribly. Looks like the PO covered the bumpers and engine/inner hood compartment with rhino liner type stuff. If flakes off the bumpers real easy and looks bad as you can see. Bumper are rust free. My question is was this plate on all 240Z's? And why don't I see them on internet pictures. Must be the looks.

Hello, All: I'm looking for two OEM FI hose clamps to replace damaged ones on my '77 280Zs very original engine. While aftermarket versions are working for now, I consider them a temporary solution. Thank you for your attention.

Most of you know Hector Cademartori, the renowned Automotive & Racing Artist, and have seen his great work. We have many of his creations available on our website. Some may not know that he makes a Classic Datsun Z Christmas Card every year. With all of the same old winter scenes and Christmas trees repeated over and over most years, these cards are a fresh option if your family sends out Christmas Cards. They also make great collector's items. This is the fourth edition Hector has created (these are prints, the original of course was painted by hand). Here is what the Artist had to say: The Christmas cards are the highlight of my year. I produce fi…
