I searched a number of times, but couldn't find the answer to my simple question. When installing a mechanical fuel pump, how is the Permatex - "Permatex 85420 Permashield Fuel Resistant Gasket Dressing & Sealant", applied? Is it applied to each of the four hard surfaces? OR, each side of the two gaskets? Roughly, how much is used on each surface? Also, do I lubricate the pump before installation? Any help is appreciated.

Is it possible for me to put a 240 grille on a 280? What about a 240 valence on a 280? The 280z had the small front markers in the grille. The 240 has them built into the valence piece.

Last night was not good. My son was driving my daughter home from the movies in my Z, going across the Ballard bridge (drawbridge w/metal grating in the rain) when a pickup pulled into his lane. He swerved into oncoming traffic to avoid the truck, then cut back into his lane and the car went into a spin, crashing into the guardrail. Thankfully both kids walked away unscathed but I'm afraid it might be the end of the road for the Z... IMG_0013.HEIC IMG_0017.HEIC

I bit the bullet and made an account, I don't know if this is the right place to post this. I'm having charging issues currently, as of a week ago the car was running great. It's a 77' 280z, currently the battery isn't charging and my fuel gauge fuse blows in the first stage. I've replaced the Alternator from Autozone, changed the Voltage regulator from MSA, also the fusible links also from MSA but it's still not charging. The first video is me turning the car on it stays at 12v constantly and when I turn it on it dips a bit then back to 12v and my charge light stays on even throughout the drive, the picture of the fuse is the blown fuse and that happens usually after the…

Just wondering if anyone has found a fire extinguisher they like, which will actually extinguish a fire, and is easy to mount for 240Z cars? Also, where do most of you mount yours? Have decided it's time to add one after reading about another Z which succumbed to an engine fire. Thanks, Andy

I looked at the manual, seemed like it was one of the holes near the center of the head, but my JK pull maxima N47 seemed more like a small hole near the cam chain (looking at the bottom of the cylinder head. I wanted to try to send some oil up that way to see if I could lubricate the cam shaft bearing journals.

My son is smelling antifreeze in his car and yesterday after a long trip at 75 mph he found a small amount of antifreeze on the passenger side carpet. I assume heater core or something, we pulled off a lot of the dash as we could in the rain but see no obvious place it's leaking, after leaving the car running we still see nothing but can smell it. Maybe a pinhole thing. The puddle was about 3 tbls Since we don't have a garage to get into and want to get through the rain, here's the question we need some advice on. I've read that you shouldn't bypass the heater core lines you should plug them on this 78 280z. What we were thinking is, bypass or plug it until we …

I'm a bit out of my element now on this 1978 280z s30. I believe both of the fuel pump relays are bad. Unfortunately when I ordered the new ones, they don't have the same pin structure so I have to rewire them. I'm simply not sure which wire goes where though I ventured some guesses. Could someone take a look at what I've posted in this PDF can correct anything and tell me which wire goes to which? There is a 4 pin and a 5 pin. https://www.docdroid.net/4M0eepL/fuel-relays.pdf Thanks. fuel relays.pdf

Before we start the summer cruising & car show season, I was wondering how to pack the stuff you'll need for a drive & car show. I may want to get a different plastic tub or re-arrange what's in the car to properly store or carry all the needed things. I probably have a good idea what I'll want or need, buy this is a discussion forum, so let's get discussting... Oops- discussing. ? The road Trip: I'll Presume you have the mechanicals in good condition, with good or fresh brake pads, tyres, and any other consumables, like the oil and air filter, wiper blades, etc. I'd start the list with some spare parts, such as the V-belt for the water pump,…

RE: '77 280Z Gentle Readers: I need to understand the procedure for gently removing the door's upper chrome moulding (w/squeegee), to be accomplished without (with the emphasis on "without") any damage to the existing (in this case, original) paint on the door or surrounding elements. As I understand it, there are no actual fasteners involved, and that the moulding mounts with clips. Can it be done with the lowered window in place, or must it be removed from the door? Would it help to cut off the original (and now ossified) rubber squeegee? What about the inner fuzzy strip? Must the window or door card be removed? A couple of the few "first-time" …

For those of you looking for Watanabe center caps to fit Rota Wheels and with some help from the Dremel the Koenig wheels, here is a link to a source in Japan that sells them. Unfortunately they only come in Silver but I just painted mine to match my black Koenigs. Very reasonably priced and quick ship. https://www.nengun.com/rs-watanabe/centre-caps
