I have a 73 240-Z. Restoration getting out of hand, but I shall see it through. We dropped the gas tank and have the interior panels out. I am wondering what items can be eliminated completely or closed off with plugs, etc. There is a tank in the cargo area on the right side that is probably useless...maybe some of the gas tank fittings as well. I am running earlier SU carbs but have a new set of Weber downdraft carbs to install if they are a better bet. All comments appreciated...Ryals in north Georgia

Thinking I’m going to let me L24 go to help finance bigger displacement ventures. I’m not a numbers matching guy and my car is to modified to ever be “ correct” . This is the original head and block for this car. I would let go of the motor ID plate if wanted. Right now just interested in price ranges you guys come up with. Moderator - move this thread if not I appropriate location. Asking opinions on price for the complete long block. P30 block .30 over . Block includes timing cover , damper, water pump , NO flywheel E88 Head (9/71 car , so early head design like E31) chambers 37cc , so yes it’s been shaved. Isky 290/490 cam , Schneider springs,…

I'm in the midst of 'restoring' the license (licence?) plate light assembly for my 70 Z. For those familiar with these units, you'll know that many are heat-damaged so that both the outer shell (black plastic) and the inner base plate (white plastic) sag and no longer seal well, esp. along the top seam and despite the rubber gasket. The illumination is, of course, provided by two #89 bulbs. These apparently generate enough heat during long periods of lights-on driving to cause the plastic pieces to soften and deform. The housing assembly is 98% sealed (there are four small, open drain holes on the bottom surface of the outer shell) to keep out water, with the reverse …

(If somebody knows a thread that deals with it, let me know - I couldn't find one) The outside door handle on our '72 240Z doesn't open the door anymore. Its functionality deteriorated over a couple of weeks and now doesn't work at all. The inside handle opens the door, but not all that well. Looking at some door latch mechanisms I have seen online, it looks like there are some return sprints and obviously some moving parts. Is there a common service that can be performed on these to make them work better, or is replacement the only option. And if replacement, does anybody know where to go to find them? MA seems to be out of them. Maybe the fix will be more…

I have a 5/71 which originally came with the Type A 4 speed. Sometime in its life, it was swapped with the type B transmission. Series 1 and early series 2 cars had the rear diff in a location closer to the front of the car. When the transmission was swapped, did that also require a shorter driveshaft? Do you think my rear diff is now in the same location as a '72 ? I would like to replace my rear diff mount bushing but they are NLA for a 71. I will need to use a '72 mount bushing which I think it requires a different bracket around my diff. My hope is that has already been done. Anyone think the bracket has already been swapped and diff is already moved t…
