I've been fantasizing about a project car for a while now. I have never had a full-on project car. I've done some of my own car maintenance, but nothing too crazy. I do my own oil changes, I've changed spark plugs (flat Subaru engine) and I recently fabbed up a bracket and installed an oil catch can in my new car. While I have limited car experience, I'm generally pretty tool-competent. I build custom electric guitars, I do other woodworking, etc... I used to be a bicycle mechanic a long time ago (think Tour de France, not Moto GP). While I recognize that bicycles are significantly less complex than motor vehicles, I suspect the same diagnosis/troubleshooting mind…

Hey! I've spent a while looking for a cheap car. I really only care that it has a decent/fixable body. I've come across a few for less than 1k, but the sales keep falling through. Any leads or suggestions?

This tag is in a 1972 240z engine compartment, regular tag has been removed. This 1972 has an early 1973 engine (1-73 or 2-73). "Big Eddie" replaced engine 8-14-78. Is this work done by a dealer under warranty ( I don't think so)? Was there a law at one time that required this tag being installed if engine was replaced?

i have 78 280z with 280zx rear disc conversion. I would have thought the 280zx conversion would not have any issues with bias since it came from a 280. My issue is that i can press the pedal about half way before i get any sort of braking happening. I can smash the pedal and the car will brake, but i cant lock all 4 tires. All 4 corner calipers have been fully rebuilt, stainless braided lines so no deformation of hoses, new bleeder screws. Use vaccum bleeder on all 4 corners multiple times and at the master cylinder. There are no leaks that i can see any where. I did see online that the wilwood master cylinder says it will solve braking bias with…

Seems odd these days to reference print magazine articles, but there’s a nice writeup on MZR and their shop of Z wonders in the March/April R&T. They’ve been discussed here before as a unique operation specializing in S30 re-engineering and reconstruction with stunning results. (Attached photo is a sample from their site rather than the article)

My second 240Z walnut shift knob arrived today and it is beautiful! This is the second shift knob that I have purchased this month, both from the same seller on eBay. The first one was a 5-speed shift knob and I liked it so much that I ordered a second one, a 4-speed walnut shift knob. Both shift knobs are for my two '71 240Z projects. They are the same size and shape as the original 240Z wood shift knobs, but are a much better quality. Max is great to work with and I highly recommend him and his high-quality walnut shift knobs. I took some pictures of the 2 new knobs along with my original, badly-faded and peeling plastic chrome ring on the bottom shift knob. Here's the…

For you guys having parts plated... Are you shipping them, or is it always a personal drop-off ordeal? I'm thinking... If you ship them boxes of parts, then maybe I could do the same. But if you are dropping them off in person, then I would have to be in the same location as you. I would like to have some parts plated, but I don't even know where to start. Looking to the collective for ideas.

While searching the web I came across someone selling these reproduction panels that were handmade and took 3-4 weeks to get once ordered. I cannot find that person/company again. Does anyone know who makes this panel besides Tabco and JDM Parts?

Does anyone have really good photo of this decal, I thought I could remove it to plate the cover, but I destroyed it in the process without taking a good photo first. I hope to get it reproduced.
