Hey Gang, My son and I recently picked up an early 1970 car. It's a great project for the both of us even though my wife is less than thrilled. Been learning lots of great info on the site.

Hi. Not too long ago, I purchased a 1983 Datsun 280ZX. I'm loving it so far! Are there any other Alabama Zcar owners out there? I live in Birmingham.

I've been reading posts here for a long time now. Just picked up my Z and am thrilled with it. It's a '70 Series One. While it needs some work still, I'm very happy to be able to use this site for reference and help along the way. Thanks and I'll see you around the forum! Chris

I just joined and figured I'd post an introduction thread. My name is Brian and I am very much into cars. I mainly work on later model Mustangs (87+) but also generally enjoy anything with wheels. I have spent the past 4 years concentrating on my '88 Mustang LX coupe and finally got it to a point were I'm very happy with it. It still needs paint and a cage before I'm done, but after finally getting the new motor built, I'm very content with it. I also own a 1973 240Z that was passed down to me from my grandfather (who was the original owner). Although it was always parked in his garage in Connecticut and he kept it up very well, it still is contaminated with road salt…

Hi,Everyone,a little info.on my self.I brought my first Z,in 1975,a beautiful 1972 240,that I took from stock to a west coast Auto-X championship in 1978-80,when I got beat by the then new RX-7's.So I switched(I know,i know)to a new 1980 Rx-7,and won a another championship.Now roll ahead,another 34 year's,in my 50's now,and have the bug for everything I had in the great 1970's(even 70's stereo's),so a 85% restored 1975 280 sit's in the garage,and a org. 1979 Rx-7 is at LeMays museum.I will need a little help,with the finishing of the Z's int piece's,the ol'brain isn't as good as it used to be.Anyway here's a couple picture's of the ol'girl now.I hope to have her done by t…

So, I've owned my 72 240z (HLS30 40871) since June of 1980. It was painted in '84, '89 and '98 with a couple of rebuilds and a used engine put into it along the way. This year was the year for its biggest ever transformation. Started with the body job in May, and September is the month for engine and drivetrain The car was painted Maserati Grigio Argento in 1998, and it looked great ...but back in February, one of the young lads that rent the house where I rent the garage parked his truck in front of the garage, couldn't stop on the ice, hit the garge door, and went through and damaged my hood So rather than try to match and then repaint in a few years (it was …

So over the weekend i went to my favorite California junk yard and saved a 1971 240z I saw the car last year and was promised the car so i finally went and got it along with 1957 chevy napco 4x4 pickup this weekend was definitely a score. the car is silver but the original color shows red throughout the entire interior since its been gutted down to a autosport cage 2 original seats and the dash. The wheels are 280zx turbo mesh wheels and it has a 5 speed in it. Im thinking someone was doing a 280 with su carbs and trans an diff swap on the car and somehow it ended up in junk yard. the dog legs and the front lower fenders are the only rust issues floors are great the tr…

Hey all, New to the forum. I have a 1977 280Z Zap that I picked up for $3k. 50K original miles on the block, looks like it had a new head installed or maybe just wicked cleaned. It is road worthy but out of tune in some way or another. I've done a lot with trying to get the AFM and vacuum systems straightened out so far but it's not solid yet (vastly improved since pick up day). Seems to me that these cars are UBER vacuum dependent and my next step is going to be to replace ALL rubber in the motor. So far I have done all bushings, Trimmed the AFM as best I can with limited access to tools (Including a sniffer), made my way through the interior electrical (someone made so…

I just got stationed in Washington a few months ago and after searching for the right car at the right price, I finally picked up my 72' 240Z. It's nice to finally own a car that you've considered one of your dream cars for awhile. I was born in the wrong generation in the sense that I have a much deeper appreciation for 60's & 70's model cars ranging from the 240z & Skyline to the Mustang & Camaro, rather than modern cars. I'm excited to learn all I can about the L series engines and Z themselves.

This is my very first forum post... ever. Yeah, I know. I've scoured forums before for information, but never actually registered or posted! So here I am. My name is Courtney. I'm a freelance photographer here in the SF Bay Area. I mostly shoot automotive material, along with events, weddings, etc. I'm also a huge car enthusiast, and my soft spot sits with Japanese classics. My boyfriend bought his four door 510 about a year ago, and I had been searching for my dream car for about that amount of time. Fortunately, I now own it! This is my 1973 240z. To make an extremely long story short, all I can say is that this was one of the most stressful car buying experiences e…

Hi! I am very excited - my 1983 Turbo 280ZX will be home by Sunday. I have to drive across state, load her up and haul her back. A labor of love! No A/C - even in September South Florida is brutally hot - a friend recommended I just take the T-Tops off, but with the storms every single day - he said don't stop, the rain will not come in! Cute. This is my second Z - the first I purchased brand new in 1983 - pretty much the exact same car. How lucky am I? I did sell my first Z to help finance a move decades ago and have been sorry ever since - the move was good, but I sure do miss the Z. I have contacted a local auto restoration garage - they turn out the finest …
