Just purchased a '71 240Z as a project car $5.5k Growing up in Scotland a family friend had one of the 70 odd Super Samuris built by Broadspeed cylinder head ace, Spike Anderson. 1973 Datsun 240Z ?Super Samuri? Big Sam Is Back! The car was purchased in the Bay Area, registered as a non op vehicle and has been in storage since 2010. Most importantly it is solid with only minor areas of rust, the floors have their original paint (which is more than can be said for the rest of the car ). Currently a very faded silver, previously black and originally Sunshine yellow. Engine, manual 5 speed gearbox and R200 diff from a 280ZX turbo. Rear disc brakes and Dana wheels. I…

After several years without one, I was finally able to find and purchase another S30. All said and done, I paid 1300 for this 74 260 4spd. It wasn't running when I bought it and all of the electric was out of whack. I've got all of that sorted out now it's running and driving down the road beautifully. Amazingly enough, it only has very minor rust. I would rate the interior condition about a 7/10. Everything on it works, every gauge, and light. At 70 mph it doesn't vibrate, shake, or pull in any direction. Anyhow, here she is. With the new wheels and tires: All of the interior pieces and exterior trim were removed when I got it, but it came with everything. I'…

Hi all! I'm new here and to Nissans/Datsuns, so will be doing a ton of searching through this forum, along with all the bookmarks that I've accumulated thus far from some of your postings. Brief background: born/raised in LA. My first car was a 1980 Toyota Celica, then just before graduating high school, I got an 1984 Mazda GSL. Then nothing worth mentioning for several years, and a few years back, I got my first Euro - a 2007 Audi A3 (which remained mostly stock), and now own a highly modified 2011 Audi A4 Avant as my daily driver. I also briefly had a 1985 Mazda GSL-SE and a 1973 Mazda RX3 Wagon (gotta admit that I am/was a rotor head) - both of which I just got rid…

Hello Z car fans, I'm Shawn from Phoenix AZ and I'm a big fan of Nissan cars and Z's. I've been a Dealership technician with Nissan for 5 years and have made the Early Z Car my next project car of choice. These cars are not common in the dealership world any more and I have no real world experience with them as I do the Nissan Models made in the last 15 years so I'm back to square one. Hopefully I will find a Nice 240Z project preferably 1970 or 1971 (I was made in 70 and born in 71) Thanks in advance Shawn aka PHX Z;)

HI all I live in the Mojave Desert, CA. Earlier this month I picked up a '74 260z 2+2 ... Non-op, but I just got it running this weekend It had the stupid flat top carbs so I dropped in a set of 240z bell-top SU's and it fired right up. The rear brake piston on the 260z popped out and seized the shoes against the drum and we trashed the entire assembly getting it off so the car would roll onto the trailer. (seller did not have a good selection of tools) So I'll be disc swapping it since its already trashed on one side. And after that all I need is an air filter and it should drive. Last week I picked up an unsafe '81 280zx that runs and drives but the rear suspension…

Here is my recent car. This is my first 240Z as I have owned two 1975 280Zs in the past and two different 280ZX's. :eek:1970 Vin S30-00931 (probably made in 69) Imported to Washington from Japan market (no manufacture month) :tapemouth Original 1998cc inline six with dual SU carbs. (L20) Dented, slightly rusted, garbage in interrior. I have plans for an L28. I'm almost done with fixing up my Datsun 620 truck and then I'll get right into this project. I'm currently emptying the garage in preparation. She will be the 2-car garage queen!

Hey everyone, New here, name is Chris, 24yr old apprentice tattoo artist and test technician at an electronics manufacturer, just picked up an '83 Datsun 280zx, NA. It runs alright, feels pretty stable despite age and I'm really excited to start work on it. Ever since I bought my first Z32 300zx(s) in '07, both 1990 NA, I've wanted to get my hands on a Datsun Z car. Since then I've sold one of my Z32 and turned the other into a project car, the user name actually explains the project. My Datsun is my daily right now and I live in West Jordan, in Utah, work in Pleasant View, the commute is over an hour and I'm hoping to get the car road worth asap. The PO was getting the…

I still lurk around on here but have not posted anything really meaningful in a while and wanted to share the news of my latest acquisition. I remember when these came out they were all the buzz in the Z car community so I know everyone will appreciate it. The car is a 2013 Scion FR-S with the 6spd manual. The only options are the rear spoiler and trunk mat. I won’t go in to all the details of it as I am sure most of you know all the specs already. The real point of this post is how I came to the decision and the events of the day. The want and desire for another classic Z has never left since I sold my ’72 240z. I still look on Craigslist, Ebay, Datsun Classif…

Hey guys. Well I finally picked up a 240Z, a car that I have coveted for a long long time. A close friend of mine happened to have too many projects to carry out at his house and one of them had to go. So I was the lucky guy that picked up this ole girl. I am excited about it. At first glance, she was very clean and straight, second glance, found some issues. Oh well, this is a true project car for me. I do not need her for transportation so I can take my time. When I first picked her up she looked like this: The previous owner tried to fix up a few spots, and I am thinking he also tried to paint her since she was originally silver. (according to the engine bay a…

I've only had it for 4 months. In the middle of getting everything working before a move to removing rust.

Bought me a winter car couple of weeks ago. Here it is. Two owners prior to me. Nice orange some surface rust that has been sanded and painted along the way. It seems that most of the paintings has been done with a paintbrush. Took it down a bit with some shorter springs.
