I've been lurking for a while searching for an older Z (I've been a Zer since I was 16 and learned to drive on my father's '76 280Z 2+2 4spd 10 years ago) and I've finally purchased one and I'm on the fourm more and more searching for information, so I thought I'd introduce myself and say Hi! Anyway, I just picked up a '74 260Z (early model) from a guy in Phoenix, AZ and drove her home to Virginia Beach, VA. Logged over 2600 miles doing it too, and my wife and I had a blast! I'd post some pictures, but I haven't had a chance to clear her up yet and get some pictures. A little history: Learned to drive on a '76 280Z 2+2 4spd - Drove from '95 to '97 while in High Schoo…

Hi all, my name is Nick. I am a new member of the site. I am also a z-car lover. I do not own one, yet. I joined this website to get help from all you pros. I will be asking many questions in the comming weeks and months, so be ready. I just want to say, before i go today, that I love the lines of the early z-cars. They were very sexy, much more so then today's cars. I also like that there were two seats. When i finally do get a z, I am going to keep it to give to my daughter, when she is old enough. You know, two seats = no hanky-panky. Well, that is all for now. Thanks in advance, …

Very few people around me can understand or appreciate my total excitement, but I thought maybe a few of you would. It's Mine! I pick it up this Saturday.

Hey, i'm 16 years old and familiar with mechanics, especially cars. my dad owns a mid 70's 240z (does the exact year matter?) that he stopped driving because of our large family. Recently my mom and him got a divorce and he will be able to drive his Z again. there is one problem, it doesn't run. the carburators are shot and many other problems. I NEED HELP! i want to get this done before his birthday First of all is there ever any tricks to these carbs that anybody knows about, a quick look at them and they look like they just need a good cleaning and a few new parts (jets). the biggest problem is a constant grinding near the rear axel, since these cars h…

hey everyone, this is just a bit of a build up of my 280zx to date. pictured below is how i bought it from matt ( KW-11-CK) http://img296.imageshack.us/img296/7210/280zx12ds.jpg this is how i had it running around for about 3 weeks before i took it off the road http://img416.imageshack.us/img416/4246/img08778ak.jpg http://img416.imageshack.us/img416/3341/img08860ga.jpg now once it was taken off the road a few major things happened, basically i ripped out the old beaten up blue interior and replaced it with some good quality marone interior ( with an uncracked dash YES!!), made my own carpet templates and did the floor with black carpet, did a black vylin roof, alpin…

Well, I finally found the right Z, after 14 years of looking. The pics are from the seller, I'll have new ones as soon as I get her into the garage. She is still stuck in the tow dolly with starter/alternator/battery issues. I have some buddies coming over to help me push it out. About me, well where to begin. I am recovering from injuries sustained in Iraq and am partially disabled, for the time being. I have been married for a year to a great gal, I have a bloodhound named Annabelle (see avatar) and I hope to someday enjoy the things I did before I was hurt, such as fly fishing, camping and taking my dog for a walk. I have a year or so of recovery left so I have l…

These forums are awesome. I pulled my 71-Z out of the woods (it was covered) and into the garage a few weeks ago after my daily driver burned to a crisp. Bad fire - long story for the Mazda forum. The engine has strong compression. I throughly cleaned the stock carbs and tuned them according to my Haynes manual. The car runs great now! However, stopping is another matter. After finding brake fluid on the rear tires, I did a complete rear brake job. Still no brakes. Pedal to the floor - barely stopping. Brake shop wants $1,000 for calipers, roters, master, and "set up". NO WAY. I found out about the Toyota caliper conversion from this site and I decided to…

Greetings from southern Ontario. I have always admired and now have recently purchased a 1977 280Z. It is a good solid car but will need some work, especially dried out rubber parts and some typical items such as the rear end clunk, stuck clock etc. I have much experience with older british cars and look forward to sorting out the various items which this car requires. I appreciate that there is a club with forums such as here, may need some advice, and hope someday to have the experience to contribute. Thanks, Brdave.

Not exactly a new member here, but just got into it heavy recently. I got a '71 (HLS 30-19724) from the second owner who had it on his side-yard for 12 years. It is a wonderful shell with no more than 13 dings in the doors/fenders/quarter panels. The biggest one is less than a nickel round. I had to bite my tongue when he told me that he went to a Z car club in Sacramento and nobody had any interest. He wanted $500 for it! Now I have been bitten by the Z bug. I had the fortune of purchasing 20 years' worth of 240, 260 and 280 parts from a guy in Santa Rosa to help me with this venture. Feel free to look me up if you are in need of something stock! I know a few of the m…
