Howdo, all? Figured I'd come say hi in here as well. Just purchased what would be my 2nd and 3rd 280z cars. The first I owned a decade ago when I was a young one, sold it. Now I'm the proud owner of two 1977 280z's. They're 'fixer uppers', I hope to have two beautiful cars by the time I'm done, but I'm in no hurry Uh, lesse, the cars are at a friends place in WA for the moment. I'll be working on them there until one is road-worthy. I'm in Montana, which is where the cars will eventually be! Glad to see you're all helpful, hopefully I can contribute some good info/advice sometime in the near future as well. One's red, one's blue. See you in the forums. Brandon a…

I am a new member and was wondering if anyone has experience with swapping a 3.8L L67 supercharged engine in a 240Z? I have started my project and the car has been stripped of interior and engine bay parts to ready for glass beading the complete body. I have the L67 engine and cleaning and making small modifications and will be ready to install within a month. I do have some rust in the rear quarter panels and have purchased two parts cars and got the quarter skins but would prefer full rear quarter panels. I also need a rust free hood if anyone in the St. Louis, MO area has one for sale. Will be using a Mustang T5 transmission and will change the rear to a stronger one. …

After 14 years of trying to pry my grandfathers 71 240z out of his hands, he has finally given in. He has had it since 1980 and my father got it for him from a family friend who was the original owner. As far as I know everyting but the wheels are original, and they have been on the car since new. The last time I looked at it, I could find no rust, except for some bubbling paint below the door. The car has been garaged and only summer driven (little RWD sports cars are not too good on Eastern Idaho roads in the winter). Unfortunatly, he has not driven it in 3 years and it is just sitting in his shop. When I get an opportunity I am going to trailer it to my house in…

Hello everyone. I thought I'd introduce myself. I've known about this site for a while now, but for some reason didn't think to join in on the fun. It looks like I'll be right at home here, there's a few familiar names. I'm also a member at HybridZ, Zdriver.com, and was an early member of the IZCC, back in '94??. I got my first Z, a rusted out '77, when I was 19 and have never looked back. I now road race a 240 with Midwest Council Sports Car Club's vintage/historic group.

Hey guys, thanks for all of the advice on buying a car. I decided on a 240Z and found a really nice late 1971 in New York. It's a two owner car, the last guy had it since 1978. All original except for paint, wheels, exhaust and a front strut bar. The interior is near perfect and the dash has no cracks. 81000 documented miles. The paint is beautiful, the guy spent 8 grand on it. Thanks for your help and I'm sure I'll be back with more questions. Mike

Hi everyone! I'm now the lucky owner of a '78 280Z. The car has 81k original miles and is in, overall, pretty good shape. Even after having it just a couple of days, I'm thrilled. That's not to say the car isn't without it's problems. The weatherstripping is in sad shape in a couple of spots, but I haven't spotted any leaks. The car is equipped with the 3-speed auto, and will not start in park. I have to pull the car down into neutral to crank the engine. The oil pressure guage stays in the first 1/3 of the gauge when running. I'm not sure exactly where it's supposed to be, but the dipstick reading is a little less than halfway between low and full, so I think an…

...glad to join your ranks! I live in Spokane, Washington in case any locals read this post and want to make their proximity known. I've been using the site for awhile, using the search function a bit, and reading some very interesting threads (love the "Z Restoration Program" thread!). The reason for introducing myself to the board at this time is because, after a lengthy search, I brought a '71 240-Z home last weekend. I'm very pleased with the overall condition of the car, but, as one would expect with a car that is 34 years old, there are some issues I wll need to deal with. To you, the administrators and participants of this site, thanks for such a great res…

but bought one anyways. I am picking up a 76 280z this weekend. Everything looks to be original, including the faded 305 blue paint. The owner told me that the gas gauge is not working. Should I be concerned? Will it be hard to fix? Thanks in advance for any responses. I love this site and am glad to be a part of it.

I decided to take my "Precious" for a run today. In total we covered about 200 kms., of which 5 kms was up Mount Morgan, with steep, hairpin bends. (Mount Morgan is just outside Rockhampton, Central Queensland). We'd just started the climb when a Skyline came up behind, tailgating me. Now, I don't like that so I added a little more speed. The bugger tailgated me again. Once again I gave it a bit more pedal and, again, the bugger tailgated me. Now, .... normally, I'm a pretty sedate driver. I stick to the speed limits and drive in a responsible manner, but this bloke gave me the tom tits. He was really enjoying himself. I could see him in the rear view mirror, a wide gri…

Lets see, I live in the Wollongong area, I turned 20 this year, and I want my precious 280ZX already.... patience though... while I slowly gather parts I need, tools, and the car... My current plan: 280ZX, I'm saving up and looking around for a 5 speed manual '83 280ZX in good condition, will save around $5k to buy the car alone, I want the body and interior in top notch condition. I have a few parts that I need already... sadly though... I didn't keept the L24 con rods or block... when I had one... as I was going to have some custom rods (pretty much duplicates of L24 rods) made up anyway, can get my uncle to do that. What I do have is a heavy duty exhaust manifold for i…
