So I pull into Blockbuster today to rent some videos. When I get out, a guy pulls up next to my brother's Ford Focus (I know, I know) in that "LeMans Sunset" bronze color 350Z. It looks nice. Some middle-aged guy steps out (undoubtedly going through a midlife crisis, which prompted the purchase of the car.....) and I shout, "Hey, nice Z, man. I have a 260." He blankly stares back at me and says, "What the hell is a 260? I only saw a 350 at the dealership......" shakes his head and walks away. I can't believe this town! I'm MOVING!!!!! Dave

Back is 1971 my first job out of the Navy, was Port/Distribution Manager for Datsun in Chicago. It basically involved organizing and running the distribution of Datsun vehicles from a huge "port" parking lot/holding area to dealers in the MidWest. Some of the memories from those times include how incredibly hot the Zs still were and in great demand, the heavy amounts of cosmoline that Datsun covered the cars with before shipping them from Japan (and the smells that stuff made as it burned off engine components), the art of choke usage to start those cars and keep them running in cold Chicago winters and the same old tactics the manufacturer used to force dealers to take s…

I would like everyone to take a moment of silence. This year on Jan. 27th a truly great man in Z car history left this world. Turbo Tom and his girlfriend were both killed in an auto accident on the 27th. Tom was a true pioneer in forced induction on the Z cars for many years. Before the end of December we had been discussing the development of a new turbo exhaust manifold for my Z with a T4 flange. With the holidays and everyones busy schedule, we hadn't spoken in some time and I figured we'd get back around to it once things settled down. Unfortunately, that will never happen. Tom was a tremendous contributor to the Z car world and incredibly generous with his decades…

I had just finished my 72 240z . new stereo with six amps running 16 speakers , new duel webbers , engine had been bored 40 over with a wicked cam . 2.5 exhaust front to back , electronic ignition etc , etc . i was showing off my finished z with the stereo when one of our truck drivers pulled in front of where i was parked . we started chatting and he was complementing me on the car and the stereo . i left the stereo on so all could listen while i stepped inside the shop to use the bathroom . during this time one of my co -workers leaned against the car and the car started to roll forward . ( i allways leave the e-brake off) he quickly reached in and put the car in first…

Hi, I'm Kevin. I have a problem. I'm addicted to cars (and bikes). I've got a long list of sports/performance cars and bikes that I have had the privelige of owning and modifying. I think it all started around the time I first saw the Dukes of Hazzard (or was it Smokey and the Bandit?). I was around 8 years old when I first started drawing pictures of cars (I'm 32 now). Not just any cars, but cool cars. This is when the obsession started to take hold. For a while, spending my allowance on Matchbox and Hot Wheels seemed to help. When I was around 12, I subscribed to VW & Porsche, Car & Driver, and the other popular car mags of the time. Then at 15, I got my first…

HI ALL, Been awhile. So many projects so little time. My latest was my wife '90 300 z. It ran great ...until it just quit. This seemed to occur Around 2000 rpms. Turn the key it fires right back up and your gone until the next time. I was pointed by my nissian guys to a wedge looking solid unit at the front of the motor. Seems once there was a recall. I bought the unit from my guys 120.00. It came with a unit and new wiring harness link to multiple( five?)locations. Being that it is the wifes car, and I am SO confident that solid module is not a problem.I only replace the module. NO improvement. Go to my 300z tech. and say fix it please!! He grabs the harness that I di…

Well gang, I am down here in San Diego and in one of the towing yards they have a 72 240Z. Title is clear, body is straight with little rust. Interior is shot. color is blue with white interior with many interior parts missing. If someone is looking for a good shell, this may be what you are looking for. I believe there is a picture on craigslist.com. Just put Datsun Z in keywords. Let me know what you think. Rick

Hi guys, last September, my '76 Z was rear ended while taking a drive with my girlfriend. We had decided to take a cruise around town at about 8PM, so we did. It was also the day before school started at the local University. During the drive, we saw a beautiful FD (3rd gen) RX7, and we got 2 cars behind it. I wanted to get a closer look as well. We approached an intersection and were puzzled which way the FD was going to go, so we were going to pull off into a parking lot and figure out which way to go next. As we pulled into the lot, BANG, the rear passenger's side of the car was plowed by a GMC Envoy SUV, naturally an eager university student rushing off to his girlfr…
