Well one week ago I brought my 1970 240Z #11320 to the paint shops for estimates. Found a place and brought the car home and started the disassembly process. I had to work Fri Sat and Sun. This morning I towed my Z back to the paint shop with nothing on the car but suspension and wheels. It was a fun four days of taking everything off the car. I will see the car again in two months with the original orange paint. It is a shame that it will not take four days to put it back together. I just wanted everyone to know. It is going to be a long two months. Rick.

Man, after working on my z in my driveway for the past 2 or so weeks i have begun to notice something. Damn near EVERYBODY has owned one! There has not been a day where i have not had somebody come up to me, and start up a conversation about how they used to have one when they were a kid, and how much they enjoyed it. I would have never thought I would get this much attention . My car is even pretty beat up lookin. Its silver with pitted chrome dish rims, and a primered drivers door. Even though its lookin like hell right now everybody seems to like it. Even a few of the local police officers have stopped by to check it out. One of em said "Yeah, i was hearing around the …

I have one of those corners I have driven hundreds of times: tight 'S' curve, right then left, steep uphill... You probably have one. Not sure why I'm posting it other than to say that that section really (REALLY) makes me appreciate these sweet, forgiving cars. I absolutely hammered through those turns last night, engine screaming, waking locals (hopefully), probably doing 40 around 15 posted (or is it 10? Slow anyways). After exiting to the flat on the top, I am going, "Wow, you shouldn't do that!". But second I am thinking, "What does it take to break this car loose?". I could probably take it a LITTLE faster but there is not much left, she's pulling like a mot…

Ok, So I was driving home from a friends house in my 73' 240. I pulled up to a stoplight, and I look over and is the "old man" in the ferrari. Now I have seen this guy around and he is a great old guy who drives this late 80's ferrari almost everyday I think. I am pretty sure it is a 308 gts. Anyway, my car sparks his attention at the light, and he givs me a little wave as I give him the "nod" (you all know the nod right?). Well I know he probably does not want a drag race so I give him a little bit of rev, thinking maybe I can get some action out of him... About 3000 rpm into first gear I turn my head a bit and give him the "look out the side of the eye" (you al…

Got it off e-bay for $1200 in LA. Took a 6 hour bus ride to get there, looked over the car and drove it home in 5. Brakes are great, tranny is smooth (4spd), Engine seems good, MAFS is kinda shot (coughs at low RPMs when engine is cold, and can see the intake jump when hood is popped and you throttle the gas a bit) Some engine work done by previous owner (a lady) and she can't recall what was done. mechanic said do it....and she paid up. Exhaust seems tight, but minor leaks come from the manifold gaskets, a puff comes out every now and then by the 6th cylinder. Body is ehhh.....right rear quarter seems to be a bondo playground, and the door has a decent ripple in it. Ri…

I finally decided to have a look at the '77 280Z's owner's manual this past Sunday. I purchased the car in December 2003 and since I have looked at these owner's manuals before I wasn't in too big a hurry. In any case I thought everyone would have a laugh at what I found in the manual. In the back at page 105 in the notes section there were a few oil changes logged in: 12/31/88 84300 oil 10w40 havoline lee maxi 2/1/89 plugs 85480 4/6/89 89450 oil/filter 1040 havoline fram 2850 5/31/89 92750 valvoline 20w50 lee 8/30/89 95125 valvoline 20w50 fram 2850 I saved the best for last; towards the front of the book folded neatly lengthwise was the Original Bill of Sale!!!!! Check …

So yesterday morning at 12:30 PM I went under the knife (and under anesthesia) to have all four of my wisdom teeth removed. Boy, was I in for a ride! The operation went smoothly, but... I was driving in my Z, it was ALL DONE. All the work I planned to do to the car had been finished. I heard (and felt) the turbo engine, shifted through five gears, was strapped into my Corbeaus, was playing the awesome stereo, looking over my uncracked dash...and even better, I was on the way to meet my friend Chad (who has an 04 350z). I was doing 95 in a 50, took an exit ramp marked 35 at 90 (with no problems thanks to my fully modified suspension). By the way, I had those Gram Lig…

Gents, I don't post much because I find this forum gives me upgradeitus & feeding that habit gets expensive! I'm down - damned near burned my z to the ground last night. Pulled out of the parking garage & plastic-burning-smoke was curling up through the defrost vents. Some wires caught fire above the heater. Don't know why - I put out the fire, pulled all the fuses & drove it home without lights. Fortunately it's daylight savings time. Seems like I never get to drive my baby. She looks good, but it's constant problems - just did the brakes, before that it was a busted shock, before that overheating, before that ignition, headliner, aircon, wiring (had lot…
