Hey guys, i got my 78 280Z a couple months back now, and i just want to know what my car was and will be worth. Ok, so the car has about 130,000km on it, body is in good condition (exept for the rear quarter panel, almost done bondo'ing it) the car runs, the inside is great but the dash has a crack in it. The drivers side door handle is broken, but im almost done that also. The floor panels are in great condition and it has the original louvres (spelling). The brakes need to be adjusted, but other than that the car runs good, the electrical looks good, just needs new fuses. So id i get an ok price for $450CAD? I am planning on a new cold air intake, PP, struts, springs an…

Hello all! I am very new to the Z scene (about 2 weeks total)! My story starts out like this.... I currently work with a guy who purchased a 1978 280Z new back in 1978, I've known him 9 years and have never seen this car on the road, about 2 weeks ago i asked him about the car and he told me his wife wanted it out of the garage and he was thinking about just having someone haul it off for the tax write off, i told him if he was going to do that i would give him $500 for it he said ok!!! My 2 sons and i went to his house to pay for the car and my oldest son asked if the car ran? He opened the passenger side door, reached in and turned the key and this car purred like…

I've got a couple. 1. US 12 between Lolo Montana and Lewiston Idaho. 100+ miles of curves and gorgeous scenery. 2. US 191 between Jackson, Wyoming and Grants Village in Yellowstone. The Tetons and the Rockefeller Highway are breathtaking. 3. The Going-to-the Sun highway between lake McDonald Lodge and St Mary's Montana is another killer drive for the scenery. (Know the enemy, if you get a ticket in Glacier, Grand Teton, or Yellowstone it's a Federal offense. These roads can also be clogged with RV's and wildlife induced traffic jams, adding to the "experience". There's still a lot of fun to have because once you pass one park ranger on these stretches, your done se…

This joke was forwarded to me today. I don't know who first told it so I can't properly credit... A few days ago I was having some work done on my car at my local garage. A blonde came in and asked for a seven-hundred-ten. We all looked at each other and another customer asked, "What is a seven-hundred-ten?" She replied, "You know, the little piece in the middle of the engine, I have lost it and need a new one.." She replied that she did not know exactly what it was, but this piece had always been there. The mechanic gave her a piece of paper and a pen and asked her to draw what the piece looked like. She drew a circle and in the middle of it wrote 710. He …

Nobody I know thinks of the Z as a hotrod, but I think it fits that category just fine, so that's why I'm callin mine the Homegrown Hotrod. Now that mine's on the final steps to "completion" I just wanted to give some background as to what has happened. Back in 1971 my dad was looking for a nice low cost sports car to replace his '62 Vette (which he SOLD:tapemouth ). After searching and searching he decided to buy a brand new 240z. He wanted to get one of the blue ones but apparently there was some kind of shipping problem going on and the only ones they had at the dealership were two red ones. My dad was apparently not willing to wait so he drove off the lot with …

After a year of stop start resto work my car is back home and 95% finished, a few jobs remain, fit new carpets, rear vents and one last badge (these parts should be with me on Tuesday) then it's just the new bumpers and wheels to sort out, oh and the steering wheel needs correcting, I am sure many of you will have noticed that the restorer has put in back into the car upside down). The car has Vin #306 and is 905 Red, the car is mostly original including the engine, gearbox and virtually all of the interior. The Zed was completely stripped and taken back to the bare metal prior to all the rot being cut out and replaced with new metal, surprisingly the car was very good in…

as i was cruising on the freeway last night i heard a pop and smoke started coming out in all directions. after pulling over to a nearby parking lot and letting the smoke stop i had a tow truck take my car to my z mechanic. after a quick diagnosis, i blew a hole in the engine. so in order to get back on the road i need a new block. having dropped too much money into this car over the short year and 1 month that i have had it, i am going to retire this car to parts. a new head gasket, transmission seal, throw out bearing, and pressure plate, fuel pump, wiring harness, battery, starter, alternator and mayn other things have seen my z car recently. as a poor high schoo…

My first ride was in a Orange 71, 4 speed. This was almost 30 years ago. The owner asked me if I wanted to take a ride and I said sure. We were going down a country 2 lane road shortly after a rain storm. Roads were damp. We were just about to pass a kid on a moped. He was in left lane going same direction as we were. He cut in front of us to turn right into a driveway. John cut the wheel to avoid him and we went into a ditch. Car rolled over one time and we came to a stop in a front yard. Totaled. Walked away with my elbow shredded from broken glass. Shortly thereafter I bought my first 72. It rotted out from under me due to Cleveland winters. Have another 72 in the gara…
