I've just screwed the plates on, stuck the rego sticker on and I'm about to venture out. So I guess I don't have a story as yet but this is an exciting moment in itself so I thought I'd share. I did drive the car unregistered around the block yesterday. Temptation got the better of me. Anyhoo, turning into my street I saw this very good looking girl so I had to let her pass even though I was holding up traffic. She didn't take her eyes off of the car (couldn't be me cause I'm below par as they say). As I turned the corner I had to look back and lo and behold she'd stopped and was further checking out the car. At this point my head hit the passenger side window. :classic:

I just read the post below mine about the cop that was not noticed. I remember that happening to me. I was heading home late one evening froma buddies house where we were working on his Triumph. It was a cool summer evening and the Z was running perfect. I had recently installed tripple mikuni's and a 4:11 limited slip diffy. I had gotten rid of carb bog by putting in a smaller choke size. Now when you hit the throttle it was instant! I was also running only the horns, no air cleaners. Very loud. Didn't have any cleaners anyway. I pull up to a main 4 way stopto turn left. About 5 seconds later a 77 or 78Z pulls up real fast to my right. I am first so I pull out and start…

I was out with my girlfriend the other day driving the z and we went to eat at this new restaurant. I had to park way out in the middle of BFE to get a spot in this parking lot that resembled the one at the mall of america. Well I go in to eat and such. I come back out and what should be parked next to me but a 280 zx. I was in aww. The guy must have been driving out in this huge parking lot and the next thing he knows he sees my z. I don't know where the guy was going or where he was at but its funny how he found my car in such a huge parking lot. It was like the guy was saying hey nice z check out mine. Well I thought it was neat. Well back to the dungeon to ge…

Hi everybody, I've got a 260 that is going to keep me clicking that 'Search' button on these forums for the next few months, and figured I'd at least say Hi and post a pic of it. this is a picture before the hubs flew off on the interstate As of now, the biggest problem with it is the electrical wiring for the console, none of the dash gauges work at all, nor turn signals. That's why it's sitting there getting so darn dirty(it's actually covered in a foot and a half of snow now.) Anyways, I really appreciate all the knoweldge contributed by people here, and if I can I'll do the same!

Hi guys I've posted a couple of threads on my new triple Weber carb set-up, but here's a story from my weekend's driving: I went out cruising with a buddy on the Gold Coast. If you don't know the Gold Coast, it's the Australian version of Florida / Miami. And there's a HUGE cruising culture. Anyway, I was en-route to one of the local congregation points, and this Nissan 180SX (that's a 240SX in USA I believe?) started chasing me down, along with his buddy in a 300Z. The 180SX had the complete modern overhaul - big spoiler on the boot, huge shiny wheels, rubber-band tyres, turbo modifications and a noisy blow-off valve.... oh, and a tailpipe so huge I could drive my …

So I am in cruising around Santa Cruz, CA...I have the day off from the dreaded daily grind and I want to go and find some friends and have some fun. As I pull up to an intersection of a busy main street the traffic light turns red and I slowly come to a halt, the idle is loping and the shifter shakes to the rythm of the engine and it is sounding good....(I always drive with the windows down to keep the teary eyes at bay...it's almost like one is chopping onions!!) All of a sudden, this young guy in a Chevelle pulls up and asks if I have a SBC under the hood.....After looking at his cute, smiling girlfriend (sitting in the passenger seat) and smiling back, I shake my head…

I've been trying to get the drain plug off the back of my diffy with no luck so far. In the process I've spread the opening of my 17mm open end wrench so I figured it was time to replace it. Last night I went down to Sears as I've always like Craftsman tools, although my wrenches are a no-name set. Turns out they are having a sale for 10% off just the one night. Also turns out they have some nice package deals. I almost bought an 8 piece metric set, then saw their deluxe 32 piece set that covers every size I could ever need for the Z in both metric and english. And it's only $79 minus 10%. Also picked up a set of Torx drivers for my wife's Volvo (needs a new timing…

One of those days I think, I had arranged time off work to take my car to the suspension shop. I had just called the tow truck guy and he was on his way when I went to start my car and the battery was flat, it goes flat over a couple of days (this is another problem I was going to look at later). No problems I'll just hook up my battery charger I have always used in this senario. It made an ungodly noise, showed no amps being used and all my relays started clicking. After fixing a couple of fuses, 1/2 my lights don't work and more importantly the fuel pump doesn't work, bugger! No suspension shop for me today :-( And all this 1 week before it gets certified ARHHH!

Well it is finally my turn. This sweet little jewel is a '71 240 Fairlady. She has been in the family since she was flown into the country in '71. The engine was totally restored, all original, last year. I am starting the restoration of the interior and exterior now. I hope to post a few pictures soon. I am having dificulty finding parts, i.e. (dash, heater/vent controls, exterior emblems, ect.) Any help will be greatly appreciated. Also, does anyone know of a Z club near Alabama, Mississippi, or Florida Gulf Coast area? Thanks for any help that can be offered. Happy and safe driving, Jeff a.k.a. 1badbamafan

If some of you remember, I had been given a 280z 2+2 last year. The previous owners were moving to the Dakatoas and wanted to give the car to someone that would appreciate the Z. Well, I got the car back to my house and had her running in a few days. Only I found out the next day that something was terribly wrong... starting her I heard some pretty large banging noises. I finally got around to pulling the head this weekend and found out that my valves were sticking. The cylinders were coming up and hitting the valves. This was mainly a problem on #6, but, #4 also showed signs of sticking valves. The damage is not bad. The cylinder is barely touched and the valve loo…

It all started when I joined my local car group, we do lots of motorsports events. For the summer I have been happily using my 86 grand prix and my 88 camaro. Well, in the winter, we hold what is called the 500 dollar challenge. We must build a car to run various events, but cannot spend more than 500 dollars canadian total (excluding parts needed to get the car running, OEM only). Well, where i live, we have only one insurance provider, it is government run so all totalled cars go to them first. I had been watching the sales lot for the perfect car for the challenge... THen I saw it! A Pontiac Sunbird Turbo GT with 5 speed! Totalled off due to hail damage. now, n…
