Hello, I have been working on this project for a year and a half. It is a 1976 280z that had the original light blue color. I have redone all the work myself. I even took the task of painting my first car. I selected the Emerald green metallic GM color because it looks sweet during the day and almost black at night. I have install Centerline wheels with S-Drive Yokohama tires. Original motor keeps this car a speed demon. I have named it the Green Hornet. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks for your time, Jesse

The Story of my 1st Z car Two years ago I bought a car that would cause me trouble. It is a 1972/73 datsun 240z. I say 1972/73 because it seems to be a compilation of two cars. The engine is a 73, the body a 72; it has early SU carbs, and a front right fender from a 260z (courtesy of my mom but I’ll get to that). As soon as my dad and I got it back home and put on jack stands, we realized that there was a weld line across the entire rear of the car just behind the seat area. There is rust flaking off the floor pan. If I tap on the floor, there is a shower of rust under the car. Step 1 We needed to get the car to run properly. There was absolutely no power. It turns ou…

Just wanted to introduce myself ! A lil over a month ago i purchased a running 260z. It had been an autox car at one point in its life so the interior was minimal(unfortunately ) but it did come with a lowering kit, l28 with 6-3-2 header, mild cam, holley 4bbl( which needs tuning BAD), racing seats, 5-point harnesses, no heat/ac, and no ps. Engine runs like a champ after 3k rpm but spits and sputters when you mash on it ( gotta work on that this weekend) Anywho, I've already had to yank the car about cause i drove it too hard on the 100 mile trip home(or something like that ) and actually lost the clutch when i took the exit to my house. So after a new slave and mast…

Hello everyone, My name is Renee and I'm from State College, PA. I am living in Pottstown, PA for the summer and I brought my 1971 240z with me. Anyone in the area who's willing- I would LOVE to have some experienced help, at least a good eye/ear to stop by or meet up. I got this Z about a year ago and I've been learning as I go, with help from my dad. It runs ok most of the time (I drove it 3 hours to here from State College two days ago), but I have a weird problem that seems to happen totally randomly, and I would really appreciate if somebody could give me another opinion. This is my first car, and I now that I am here and my dad is back home, I pretty much have onl…

Great to be a part of Classic Zcar Club. I have built/restored/modified my classic Z with little or no help. I need help now. I keep blowing my slave cylinder out and believe that the retaining clutch springs are weak and alowing the fork to move and therefore slave cylinder piston comes out to far? If this is the case, do i have to drop the trans to replace? Any help would be awesome. Cheers

Hey everyone! I'm Josh, I'm based out of Port Angeles, WA and I am actually on my second Z now... My first was a 1990 2+2, which was wrecked back in 2011... I am now the owner of a 1978 280Z 2-seat, which I am working to get onto the road. I'll say this: it shouldn't be any harder than replacing the motor and transmission in my 300ZX in a tiny single car garage. That was a bit of a nightmare... Haha! I'm a member of the ZCCW, right now, but I hope to get involved with one of the Z clubs in Pennsylvania when I head over there for college this September.

I just acquired a 78 280z coupe with 5 speed. hasn't ran in awhile and it has some rust issues but is repairable. I'm swapping to carbs I got a set of 3 screw su carbs from a 72 240 from the previous owner of the car. Also deleting the random crap related to the fuel injection. The car had a nice large rat nest in it under the false floor behind the seats. Of course some rust to go with the car. floor pan on the passenger side, Drivers rocker panel, rear hatch panel, and left lower fender, and passenger frame rail is the major areas. Some info about me. I now live in Sevierville, Tn. I'm 22 years old Married with kids and I've been a mechanic for a little over 4 years. H…

Hi everyone. I purchased this 240z about a month ago. It will be a daily driver until I take the time to restore it in the distant future. It is not a numbers matching car (engine head is a e88), but it runs and is solid all around. Everything on the car works. It has had some rust repair (fiberglass patch) behind the seat and replaced front fenders. I can't wait to get back from college and start work restoring the rims. You may notice that it does not have the hatch louvers on it. That is because the previous owner put a 1972 hatch on instead of the original when he repainted the car. I still have the original. Here are some pics of my car: By the way, I am missing…

Hi everyone, I always dreamed about having a sports car or a manual transmission car for that matter. I'm a manager at a doggie daycare and one of my favorite clients owned a 1970 datsun 240z that he told me about a few times. I have been searching for a second car and I couldn't narrow down what I wanted to buy with little money that I had to save. One day my favorite clients wife told me she was making her hubby sell his car or give it to the neighbor because he had t touched it for 2 years(stopped running after he bought it). So I said jokingly you guys should give it to me, I'll fix it!!! And so after a maybe 15 min drive home I got the call "it's yours!". So I…

Hello everyone! After 4 years of watching my '78 280 basically just sit there, I'm finally serious about getting her back in shape. Its amazing how much I have forgotten about Zs since I parted with my 3rd Z in 1982! I'm hoping to learn from all of you and your experiences. I'm also hoping to DIY as much as possible so I can keep the Bride content! I cant remember for the life of me how to get to the antenna mast. That quarter panel is tough. It looks like the hinge to the tailgate stay is blocking it. If I'm right then how do I get that hinge off?

I'm not exactly Captain Jack Sparrow but I am a new Z owner... Found this beauty in TX and am planning on giving it to my son (who is 5 months old) in the future 1978 280Z Black Pearl (color code 638)... I'm the 4th owner... All matching, mostly original... I even have mint condition owners manual, spare, jack, tool kit, and shop book. The thing drove like a champ the 70 miles home (no trailer! w00t w00t)... Super excited!
