I have been using this site as a resource for a few weeks now, I figure I would introduce myself. I just picked up this 1978 280Z from the original owner. I have ALL of the original paperwork that went with the car when it was new. He let his grandson borrow it for a few years back in 2006 and he trashed it. The owner started a restoration on it and lost interest so he sold it to me with all of the new parts and pieces to finish the job. It had sat for about 5 years with bad gas. I had the gas tank washed and replaced the injectors and fuel filter. After that and a minor tune up, she is running like new! The sanding was about 75% complete so I just started to finish …

First time on the service for I see lots of great information. I'm currently finishing a 78 280z the last major item I need is the installation of the vacuum lines. I'm a bit confused with the manual so any photos will be great.

Call me Pooky. I've been on the site for months now but this is my first post. I am truly indebted to many of you for all of your helpful insights and advice, not to mention encouragement. Back when I was in high school my sister dated a guy that had a silver 280z. I thought it was the coolest car. As I got older and more financially able to take on a restoration I had no doubt what car it would be. This was my '77 280z when I bought it for $4k back in 2011. (I spent too much!) It was drivable, nevertheless I started tearing it apart the very next day. I hit it hard for about two years then bought a cottage at a favorite fishing location and the car fell into an auto coco…

Introducing myself... Tom in Indianapolis. I’ve lived Z cars since high school, when one of my classmates, whose dad was a Datsun dealer, drove one. I’ve been a car collector for over 20 years, with varying tastes: Jaguar, Aston, Corvette, Porsche, McLaren, and a wide variety of Indy 500 pace cars.

Hi, all. I just bought a 1973 240z from original owner, and he rarely drove it. That's good and bad. I'm sorting through the bad.... I have lots of questions that I'll post under separate topics. I have a simple question to start... The tachometer isn't working. It's the old current measuring kind. He gave me a used one he bought, but it doesn't work either. He did get the ignition on the column changed at some point in the past. I'm trying to diagnose. Should the car still start if I unplug the tach from the the wiring harness? Thanks!

Hello, I'm new to this club. I am looking to buy a 240/280 Z but not sure really where to start. A friend of mine had a 240Z when I was younger and I really liked it. I'm looking for a car that might need a little work, but solid. Any suggestions on publications or resources would be great. Also from you experienced owners, any input as to the pros and cons of the 240 vs the 280 would be appreciated. Thanks, Ernesto

I have a 1986 300zx turbo in near mint condition. A jerk backed into me and I'm having to deal with insurance. They are wanting to give me almost nothing for it, saying they can't find any sales of 86 300zx turbos, thus comparing it to A- 300zx non turbo standard issue, and B 300zx non turbo 2+2, also standard issue. Mine has full electronics including dash (the electronic equipment package) $1250.00 in 86, and (full leather package) $1100.00in 86. My mom said to go to court, but that's hard with no prices of other loaded 86 300zx turbos. Do any of you have an idea where I can find information. I'm kinda desperate. I want to keep it, it's my dream car, but I'm just a h…
