Hello everyone. I am currently beginning a refurbishment of my 73 Z-car. Not being much of a mechanic I am having most of the technical stuff done by a professional shop. We are just beginning the rebuild an refreshment of the engine. Only 93500 miles at this time so hopefully this won't be quite as expensive as I fear. Looking forward to hearing from anyone who has any advise. While we are at it, how difficult will it be to take out the original dash and replace it with one that is not cracked, or should I try to have it filled and textured?

Hello all, new member here and new z owner. I have just purchased a 77 280z. I've been wanting one for years and just now had the chance to pick one up for a good deal (to me). She needs work but I wanted a project car. Only pic I have for now of the car. This is not the first project car I have, I am nearly finished with aa 3 year old build on an SVT contour I saved from going to the junk yard. Its heavily modded, 3.0 swap (mercury sable powerd), LSD, sub frame connectors, poly filled mounts , larger brakes etc... tons of fun Also have my nearly stock DD another SVT contour I've had for 6 years. Reliable as a little rock. Only mods are new to the car dash …

I may have posted earlier in the wrong area so I hopefully posting in the correct area now. I got to admit the stars must be lined up correctly because I've had the most unbelievable opportunity offered to me. Many of us dream and acheive of restoring a 240Z, well, I have manage to stumble into the opportunity to have bought (2) 1971 240Z in mint conditions down in Texas hence the reference "Texan Twin" . Both of these cars have number matching motors, 1 car is an AZ car, other car is Southern Cal. car, both have no rust, Type B trans for both, (1) 5 spd trans, plus over $9,000 in new parts. Both cars are ready for prepping for paint just need to do the final surface w…

Well hello, my name is Jason and im a proud owner of a 1977 280z that I bought over a year ago that currently at the moment im restoring. I bought the car for $500 and might I say I couldn't let a car in its horrible condition be destroyed, so I took the liberty to restore a beautiful classic . In a years time I have completly rebulit the body from the ground up, I have done all welding, fabrication, body work (help from some friends), and will be painting the car myself by next week. If anyone is interested I could open a topic on the complete build I have done so far. Here is some pics when i first bought the car enjoy. Rusty as can be :/

Hi, Canadian Z owner with a 260Z, has a 83 2.8L engine & 5spd transmission. How do I identify which transmission rebuild kit to use? All I can find is "L3" on the 2 piece casing. I have looked up kits and they are all FS5W71, then they end in A, B, C, E, F, G. I think mine would be a C kit, as it is for 83 and has 5 brass synchro rings. Help if you know. Does anybody have a good transmission diagram for the 5spd from 83? Please send it to me if you do.

I've been a member for about a year, browsing around for answers to different questions but I did not know where to post this question so forgive me if this is not the appropriate place.... I have an issue with the voltage gauge on my '78 280. The voltage gauge needle will show a normal charging position, (between 12 and 16 volts), then suddenly drop to zero and stay there for a while, then jump back to normal. It may stay at zero for an hour or longer. It sometimes drops to zero when I turn the key to the "off" position. Once, when it was at "zero", I pressed the break pedal and it jumped back to its normal position. The charging light does not come on when this h…

Well...as I mentioned to the boys in Ontario, I didn't think I would buy another one so soon but I couldn't resist any longer. This week end I took possession of my latest project...a 1/74 260Z with 65,000 original miles. it started life as a blue Z but was repainted silver many moons ago. I was very surprised when it was delivered to have a binder full of documentation that goes back 27 years and supports the maintenance and mileage along the way. that was a sweet little treasure to find. It is all steel, very minor issues of rust and it runs like a champ. L26, 4 speed with headers, exhaust, full tokico suspension done by Whitehead performance here in Toronto, '71 ca…

Since I was about 13 or 14 I wanted to do a small-block powered classic Z, about 9 months ago I noticed a 72 rotting out behind my friend's garage, and seeing an opportunity I bought it on the spot. It's been slow going, but I'm stripping her down to the bare metal and breathing some new life in with an LS1 or LS2 mated to a Tremec T56. I'll post some pictures and all that as I go, for now I'll say my background is in engine and transmission building, metal fabrication and TIG welding, with some brief diversions into machining, drafting, logic programming and systems design and computational fluid dynamics. Screwing around with stuff and making it awesome it sort of "my …

I entered my car in the Muckenthaler this past Sunday in the pre 1975 Japanese class and took home best in class. I uploaded some pictures of my car in the gallery. But to be honest, there were only two Z's entered, both 1971 yellow cars. There was a third Z there, an immaculate Black Pearl that should have taken the award, but he was a tko due to production year. Also shown was another immaculate 260z from the Group Z Club entered in the unrestored class that took second in that category. He even had the Datsun Gas Can from 1973 on display. There were some beautiful cars, for us car lovers to drool over, I can't load the pictures here for some reason, but will po…

Hello! I recently purchased a 1982 280zx turbo as my daily driver, but as expected it has quite a few problems. Im young and dont know alot about this car so hopefully you guys can help me keep this thing running so i can get to work every day! A few to start out with: 1. Does anyone else have a ridiculous amount of electrical problems? 2. which one would you fix first: parking brake, power steering, speedometer?

Who will answer my car questions about my 1971 Datsun 240Z? I am the sole owner; bought her new and still have her on the road..but she needs alittle help now. Will professional mechanics or other members answer questions I may post in the coming weeks? How knowledgeable are the people who provide answers? Will I be permitted to follow-up with a person by phone or have a person phone me? How soon will I receive a response to my posted questions? Are there any fringe benefits to my membership? This is my very first post so I need an orientation--answers to the above questions are essential. Thanks--looking forward to an RSVP--ASAP …
