My father bought a 280zx in 1979 when I was in college. I've coveted it ever since and last summer he offered it to me as a gift. Took me 6 months to clean the garage out and I just picked it up last week. I've been reading the site for 6 months and picked up a lot of great information.

hi my name is matthew and i live in canada, toronto, ontario. i bought my first z a few weeks ago. 1972 240z. i was planning on buying a 350z but i seen this old beauty and i bough it on the spot. i need a few pointers here and there as i am new to cars and the whole shabang ahah. hope to learn alot here!

Hi all, new member here. Had a 240 years ago, been lookin, found a really nice 240 to restore, its about 2 hrs. away. Question is would it be ok to haul it on a car dolly, drive wheels on the ground ( in neutral of corse ) I have heard that some types of manual trannies dont like to be towed, something about the way the trans oil is pumped/splashed onto the shaft bearings. I know I could tow with the steers on the ground and the S wheel strapped down, but thought I would get some solid advise on here. Thanks in advance, lookin forward to getting into this.............

I have a 78 280 Original owner 83k miles 4 Speed Burgundy/Black Having a issue with the brake lights and tail lights not turning off Might be a coincidence but while driving home just before I noticed the problem I felt something underfoot. Turns out it is some kind of plug like object clear somwhat soft plastic. About a half inch in Dia. and about an inch long. Any body know if what it may be and if it is related to the lights issue Thanks for any advice

Didnt see a build log section or anything so I guess I will drop this here for now. hope no one minds. So I got my 77' 280z on March 3rd, 2001 and I am now a happy owner of a great datsun. Sadly I had to sell my 1986 Corolla GTS in favor of my new car. (9 years older, albiet) The car has good looks, still sporty and so far its reliable and doesnt leak oil. My Corolla had quite a bit of trouble and it was all unlucky stuff for me. The outside of the car is alittle rough on the paint, alittle worse than the Corolla was. There is of course some rust, after all its 30years old so thats expected. But its to a minimal. You can see the extent of it in the last photo …

Hi all, After owning a '72 240Z as my first car at the end of high school, I am looking to get back into the Z scene after years of driving BMW's, primarily M cars. I'm now driving a '09 335i X drive sedan, M Sport, six speed and mildly modified as the kid hauler but I've never lost my deep fondness for a Z. So, if any one has any leads on mint, driver quality cars I would like to hear about it. There was one on ebay which completed today but I just wasn't comfortable about throwing down $10K on something I can't see before committing to. The site looks great and I hope to be able to contribute in the future. Thanks for reading!

I have a 1975 280z that I bought in October, 2010. It was running, but had too many issues to pass New York's tough inspection. Anyway, I spent the winter acquiring the parts I could find on Ebay, and as spring in finally here in upstate New York, I thought I'd try to start it. No luck. It seems as if it's not getting any gas. The battery is fully charged, and the electrical and gas gauges are registering. I would very much welcome any advice.

Hey guys, I'm pretty new to the Nissan/Datsun community. My friend actually has a 240Z in his garage that used to be his parents. It was never winter driven and has been sitting for 15 years!! I've been designated to try and revive this beast of a machine. I have come to this forum to seek aid from all the wise/knowledgable people out there. Please excuse my newbie-ness in questions about the car. I have never worked on a Nissan/Datsun before. Thank you all!

I have a 77 280z. owned it since 1985. I am experiencing a strange electrical problem with it. It is similar to other post I have read. I have an idea what it could be but would like to know what you all think. I drove it one night and 15 Min's into the drive my dash lights went out. I took it back home and realized I didn't have side maker or tail lights. I don't drive it alot. And haven't driven it at night for several years. Then I started checking everything to see what else was wrong. Well lets see, volt gauge doesn't register voltage if the doors are open?!, Close them and it shows normal voltage. hi my name is phil and im 21 i just bought a 1983 280zx, it does have a turbo in it but idk if its factory or not. it was barley working when i got it but its running a little smoother got the fluids changed, car washed, replaced the air filter, going to replace the rotors and pads, need to replace the fuel lines and need to clean the fuel injectors but other than that engine is good and transmission is good. tell me what u think!

My name is Herman and I am TRYING to pick up a restorable 240/260. I have found a few in my area that have decent bodies but ALL have engine or tranny issues. The one I like the most needs a new wiring harness (or so I was told by the owner) bc the wires are getting hot and heating up the fuse box. The issue I have with that (besides never trusting the seller) is that I can't find a wiring harness for this car for the life of me. If anyone has ANY advise for me I would really appreciate it.
