I'm looking at new carpet for my 240z. And ive seen carpet kits advertised in car magazines (here in australia)and heard good and bad stories about them(mainly about their poor fit), even considering geting a auto trimmer to make it up. Has anyone bought one, if so what brand and was it any good? Also looking at replacing my hood liner, I've done a search here but would like some more details on how to do it. mine is a mess! thanks scott

ay guys Anyone want to know what I been doin the last 6 months? Well I pulled out my blown 260 motor and have now dropped in a 280 (stock). Lots of running around but its finnally in! yeay! Guess what? She dont want to start. The motor wount crank fast enough it seems. Battery is good as I pulled it out of a running regular driving car. So I thought starter's drawin too much current. Pulled out the old starter and put in another one from wreckers, . ... And ... same problem. It just dont turn. After a couple of rotations it wount turn at all. Symtoms of a flat battery right! So I got another battery and ......same prob. Last resort is to jump it, havent tried yet …

I recieved these statistics within an email from a friend today. Can anyone in Australia validate these figures? Since we in the states don't get anything in the news concerning information like this about foreign countries, I don't know if this is factual or a myth. [it has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their own government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars. The first year results are now in: Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 4…

Is the AFM from a L24E or from a S12 Turbo any different from the unit from an L28E? Any other cars I could grab them from ? I would rather use a MAF sensor, but money and time dictates an AFM at the moment, and seeing as I dont have one yet I'm just looking for a cheap unit from the wreckers. Cheers

I bought an E88 head from an L24E today, and Im looking at putting it on my L28(FI). I couldnt find an N42 anywhere, so I have to deal with the E88. I've got a few questions though. How is the 'modern' E88 different from the old ones from 240z(other than the FI notches)? Is it hard/possible/worthwhile to put the valves from my N42 into the E88(do the E88 heads from the skylines have hardened seats?) ? Im going to run it with an F54 block which currently has dished pistons, although I bought some flattops which I was planning on using with the N42 head. Can I still use the flattops with the E88 without the valves puching holes in the pistons?(I noticed the L24E pistons had…

I was given a manual gearbox of unknown origin when I bought my auto 260Z. Now that I am getting close to doing the manual conversion I am interested to know what type of gearbox it is so I can work out the ratios. I pulled the speedo cogs out of both the old auto and the mystery manual yesterday. Unsurprisingly, the auto had a black cog so I have the 3.54 differential. The mystery manual, on the other hand, had a blue cog (3.7 diff). Could anyone tell me which manual Zs came out in Aus with the 3.7? Will this gearbox go OK with the 3.54? Thanks Chris

Hey everyone, Today I finished my tacho swap. For our U.S mates they can easily grab a 280Z electronic/trigger tacho and rid themselves of the inductive loop type, easy. Unfortunatley we dont have that option. So when my 260Z loop tacho started playing up (periodically working, bouncy etc) I didnt feel like finding/paying for on that could crap out just as easily. After hunting the yards I found that a 77 240k sedan had the similar tacho face, but most importantly the same gap/distance between rpm units. When I got the cluster out I found it was a latter style pulse tacho. All set up on a circuit board. So I got the tacho for $30. Anyways to the good bits, you have to rem…

Hi i'm located in sydney and i've found a auto 2 seater 1974 260z running on a l28 for sale which i'm soon going to take a look at. It's just about to run out of rego and the asking price is $2,900. I was wandering if any aussies out there could give me a rough (ball park) guess at what sort of condition i'd expect it to be in considering its price and that it's had rego for the past year? This is my first time considering purchasing one so if anyone could also give me a few tips on where to look for rust that'd be great. thanks guys.
