I recently changed the gasket on my differential and ever since I have had a leak from the vent. I removed the vent, cleaned and replaced it with the arrow pointing to the rear for the car. The Royal Purple 75W90 gear lube is level with the bottom of the filler plug with the car sitting on the ground. There is definitely oil coming out the top of the vent after just a few miles of normal driving. Anyone else had this issue?

I've been looking for wolfrace like mag wheels in 14 inch, but they are none to find. Then I found out those original 280zx iron cross wheels are 14 inch to, and I really like them. Anyone has a good set he's willing to sell and ship overseas ? Like this: I'm asking some friends overhere, maybe I can find them here, just keeping this option open.. Gr Bart

I have cleaned the corrosion off of the wires leading into my fusible links on several occasions and they still turn green with corrosion no matter what I do to them. Would upgrading to maxi fuses help this problem or do I need to replace part of if not all of the wiring harness? Car wants to turn over but will not start, replaced the fuel pump and checked the fuel pump relay. Always had a problem with my fusible links, but I let my car sit for over a year so now I can't exactly figure out whats wrong with it and I have nothing else to drive. Please help....

I recently got my car back from the mechanic, he did a compression test and determined off of my very low 60-60-61-60-62-67 results that I need a new engine, or I should rebuild mine. I live in California, so paying a mechanic to do it is just outrageous (~$85/hr) I've never done anything like this before, but I do have my dad to help me and it would be a fun bonding experience to rebuild the L6 on my Z. I'm all-for rebuilding the engine, but I'm wondering if there is a way I can test whether it's the valves, or whether it's the rings that are leaking. I'm assuming it's the rings, since that's what the mechanic suggested. It's hard for me to grasp exactly how long this wi…

Any ideas where to look are welcome ? So far I can think of I changed/did: - 4 rims repaired/balanced and holes drilled for conical lug nuts. - new tires dunlop streetresponse, was balanced with the repaired rims yesterday - new engine/transmission and differential mounts - replaced propshaft and drive shafts - replaced front and rear wheel bearings - replaced every part of the suspension front and rear including tie rods etc. - replaced steering coupler - checked steering house play, seems minimal/normal ? Wheel responds directly to steering wheel movement - There's no play in the steering wheel inside the car - Engine runs well, pulls good in all gears, I do notice a li…

I've never used these but I wanted to pick some up for Z restorations. A floor-pan or quarter-panel would probably be the biggest item to secure.... one at a time....maybe even a few to secure thicker ZG flares too as well as frame rail and rear valence. What selection of cleco's and tools would someone with experience recommend from this site to do the above? Clecos, Cleco Fasteners, Cleco Pliers for Sheet Metal, MRO Tools , Nova® Pneumatic Drills, Carbide Cutting Tools Any suggestion of cleco tools? I am guessing the manual plier-like tool is fine. What is the typical spacing when securing a panel? Thanks! Here are some pics I found.

Hi all, how to tell if a hub is good? As long as I replace races, I am ok, right? Hard to trust something 40 years old and HAH to get off the brakes.

Well was out tuning a carb that I just finished rebuilding, and went to sratt it after setting the float levels. When as it was cranking I heard this terrible squeak from my back cylinder area right under the valve cover. So I turned the key and just hit the starter button, and there is a steady squeak from undef the valve cover on the very back cylinder, just a quick squeak, kind of a 1,2,3,4,5,squeak,1,2,3 if you get what I mean. It sounded topside just the valve cover, so I pulled the cover, and saw that the oiler tube is completely unbolted(bolt was still attached) on one side, and appears to be cracked. It was dark so I'm not sure yet but I'm suspecting either the c…

Door locks
by Gee- 8 replies

I just did something really stupid. :stupid: In order to see how the door lock works I pushed the swivelling part on the door around. Now the bloody thing won't close and it's stuck in the wrong position. I understand that the "knob" on the swivelling bit must face the door with the bigger knob facing the ground. It doesn't now. I've taken the door trim off to have a look but can't figure out what's wrong. Anyone been silly enough to do this, or know how I might fix it??!?! I can't close the door now!!!!!!

Timing ? AGAIN!! 1 2

I've been thru this a bunch of times on this forum but here goes again. The engine was running good with a little stumble above 4500, timing was at 7-8 degrees and I couldn't get it to advance any further so I left it. I did a minor valve adjust cold then hot with only some very minor adjustments needed to some of the valves both hot and cold. Today, engine runs like shyte, stumbles above 3500 rpm and backfires on decel and the BCDD is now hanging up holding the idle at 1200 rpm and drops if you tap the accelerator. WTF is going on? This all sounds like timing to me, but need some other input. Timing has not been checked after valve adjust, was done just prior to the adju…

There is an 83 maxima auto in craigslist here in town, being parted out. I was thinking of taking the electronic ignition system, but wasn't sure if it would work easily. Also I'm redoing my back brakes right nd was wondering if they are the same or at least a direct swap when there drums or if they are discs are they a direct swap? Are there any other parts off this that I should go after. Mine is a 260z 4 speed. Are the springs the same? Thought about grabbing them so I can cut a set, and have a back up set incase it's too low.
