Well a new problem came up and was not like this when I got the car and cant seem to find any leaks and those that I have found were fixed before. The problem is that when I activate the AC the idle will shoot up to about 2k rpms and stay there. Before it would shoot up but not that much. So select AC shoots to 2k, switch out of it and back to normal and will do this again and again if I continue to switch back and forth into AC and out. Other then that the idle is just fine and car is running good just this high idle when AC is on. Any ideas?

This panel has a strange shape and doesn't seem to fit over the strut tower and under the hatch support bracket at the same time. Anyone know how to get this thing in?

My 1975 280z (automatic) does not turn over with a good battery and good fuses. Whenever it used to do this problem, it would start on neutral. Everytime i turn the key, I can hear a something engaging by the glove box and I think that might be one of the pumps? I'm not sure what is causing this but I've done some research that it has to be linked to the neutral safety switch? Can someone please confirm or give any feedback? I just recently had the head gasket replaced from being blown and I cant wait to get her back on the road! Thanks so much!

Hi all, my questions are: what type of hardware is used on the lower rear of the fender where it wraps under the body?...There don't seem to be any weldnuts in the holes that are down there, well at least on my car. Was there some kind of "special" hardware used down there? Should there be weldnuts inside the body? The area is inaccessible to get a nut on a bolt down there. Thanks for your help!...Mike

I bought a 78 280z a while back, it ran excellent until it started smoking and running rich when i step on the gas its black smoke but when its ideling its like a white or blue. Tt runs fine when its warmed up. Ive checked the injectors, changed the thermotime switch and how would i know if the cold start valve in stuck open? oil also shoots out when i take the oil cap off, could it be sticky valves?

Does anyone know who the manufacturer was for the Receiver/Dryer used with the A-R-A dealer installed A/C system? I believe the original did Not have a switch mounted on top of the Dryer unit like what was used on the 1974 and up Nissan/Datsun installed units. Looks Like I have everything but this item as the Prev owner removed it for a much smaller barrel style in-line Dryer. Does anyone know what unit was used in the Dealer installed kits of 1970-1973? Almost done adding the dealer installed A/C components back to my car for vintage 05/72 240Z but am missing the dryer. Any suggestions. Currently I am installing more for the look and to keep the car as a vintage…

Hey everyone. My 82 280zx has a terrible rattle/chatter when running. The noise quiets down considerably when the clutch is engaged (pedal down). There is total slippage, 5% power when the clutch is let out. I just push it around my driveway. PO told me he had the clutch replaced by some monkey who put in the wrong side "throw out" bearing (assiming thats the release bearing). I waited until its hot enough to fry eggs on the hood of the car to start the job of replacing the clutch. Drained the gear box oil and to my horror I saw lots of shavings attached to the plug (looks like a fuzzy catapillar) and the remanents of something round and metal (attaching a photo he…

OK I know I have a bad timing issue, the engine runs like crap over 2500 RPM. New timing chain, guides and head was redone. Now when #1 is at TDC(by touch with a stick in the cylinder) lobes on the cam look like rabbit ears, the timing mark on the crank is at 15° and the woodruff keyway is at about 11 o'clock. I have a rebuilt crank pulley to put on since I think maybe the balancer spun, but why would the keyway be that far off from 12 o'clock if # 1 is at TDC?

I'm desperately in need of a GOOD, solid mechanical bottom end for an L24 out of an early 240Z. My car is a '72 and spun a bearing. Or if someone is selling a stock L24 engine please contact me. -Mike Whitecomet21@comcast.net

I am looking to buy my first Z car, and I have come across this example. From the description and pictures it all looks quite good. There doesn't appear to be any exterior rust, and the underside looks quite clean as well. I am looking for some of your expert eyes to take a look and let me know what you think. Any advice would be appreciated for a first time z buyer! Thanks! Here is the car
