Hey, I understand that the passenger side shocks are harder to remove because it usually requires dropping the gas tank, but I cannot figure out how to get to the upper bolts of the housing/shield/cover on the driver's side bumper shocks? Would cutting it (or the whole shock) be easiest? Sidenote: The fin on the back of the car that flushes the rear end to the bumper -- how does this come off? (Looks like small welds maybe?) Thanks!

i have a 1976 280z an i need 2 replacement quarter panels. I found 2 original datsun quarter panels for 1200 in etching primer for a 240z. i am wondering if they will match up perfectly or if some or its different. He said something about the flares being bigger or smaller but i am going for more custom so i am not worried about that part too much.

Hello, i'm just continuing on the process of cleaning, and replacing old parts from the L28, unfortunately today one of the nightmares that nobody wants happened to me , the two bolts that hold the water inlet(coming from the heater) broke inside the the timing cover, , i had already deal with a situation like this before when i was barely trying to get the 280z running (thermostat housing), today however, the studs are almost all the way in... my question,.. is there any way to remove the timing front cover(whole oil pump, dizzy, etc) without messing up the timing? , I know I could use one of those kits to remove broken studs, but right now I could have access…

hi all, i have owned my US imported Z for a few trouble free () years, apart from the usual fuel filler neck letting fumes into the cabin and some electrical stuff. 2 weeks ago i came back from france (St Quentin/Cambrai region) into belgium and after enjoying some smaller roads we decided to do the last 75 miles or so on the highway. after about 10 minutes at highway speed (80-90mph), the engine slowly lost power over 10 second timespam and with the pedal to the metal, we got 3k rpm max. In fourth gear that's not enough to keep up with the pace. there was no backfiring or stuttering. when i lift my foot off the pedal and push it all the way down again i got a few se…

Hey guys, last night I noticed my car wasn't reading any oil pressure at idle. It seems to have started after I had to jump it several times because I left my lights on. As I drive, the pressure climbs and then gets to about halfway up the meter and stays until I idle again. I looked Something wrong with the sending unit? Possibly a leak? Maybe the oil filter or oil itself? I did change my clutch lost a little oil, but there was still an acceptable amount in there as far as I'm aware. I'll see if I can get my hands on a mechanical gauge. I get a gut feeling its gonna read normal. I cant work on it right now, so I'm hoping you folks had any other suggestions on what to c…

Hi Have seen several posts contained in the forums that discuss a choke bracket to remount the choke lever onto the transmission tunnel. The retro-fit item available on ebay 240z choke lever bracket in eBay Motors | eBay works for the 240z only - I have an early '74 260Z & the ebay bracket will not line up. Anyone aware of a similar 260z solution for this issue - trying to avoid fabricating a bracket myself if there is already a working design out there. Thanks Rich.

Okay, so, I'm monkeying around with stuff and this is bothering me. What is the sensor with the two green wires going into the bit of metal between the radiator hose and the thermostat housing? I assume the one lower down with the single yellow wire is the temperature gauge sender. There are also another green wire and a black/yellow wire in the harness that have been chopped off since before I got the car that I'm a bit curious about. Disregard the 280zx distributor blocking the view of everything, that's my own hack-job wiring that I understand pretty well

Alright guys, I left work and the car was already warmed up (1978 280Z) the temp was about a quarter of the way to half way on the gauge. I stepped into it and then when I got off of it the temp gauge suddenly shot down and stayed there. I pulled over checked the wires and everything seems to still be connected and in tact. Any ideas to what has happened? Thanks in advance guys.

Hi everyone! It's been awhile. I'm surprised I remembered my password! A few years ago, I was plagued with a cold idle issue, low manifold vacuum, a lean-mixture issue, all kinds of fun stuff. I learned so much about the EFI, tested my AFM as an issue, replaced it with a new one from Motorsport, and adjusted it to its ideal setting. Though I'm still surprised how big a difference a few teeth make going either direction. This sensitivity might be symptomatic of other deeper issues that I've discovered recently. So I had my car in the shop last week for a brake job. Got new pads, shoes, shims, springs all the way around and when I was getting this done I also asked…

I just few moments ago came from the garage, my meaning was to remove oil pump and correct the shaft BUT then i noticed something clear dripping down from the pump. My heart stopped. COOLANT. I instantly put oil can under the car and opened oil screw... 4 liters of coolant plus 5 liters of oil squirt out. HOW? Head has been machined a little over year ago, and it has run strong since. I recently took it out because i painted engine bay + engine and accessories. I DID change one thing to engine: TIMING COVER. Could it be that the coolant have leaked from there? I have not run engine since last fall (and it run perfectly then) I just cant figure out anything else. Did compr…

Re-installing my vintage A-R-A A/C unit that was on the car when I purchased it 8 (wow how time flies) years ago. When I replaced the hoses I remember the original cloth braided hose was pretty beat up looking. With Re-installing the a/c compressor I am seeing that there is a clearance issue with the rear of the compressor and the lower radiator hose. The hose appears to be pushed as far as it will fo on each the lower radiator and the engine connection pipe. Any suggestions that don't involve leaving the a/c unit off the car? This is the correct hose for my 1972 240Z as it came from MSA. 05/72 240Z Taz0162
