I have taken off work to R&R my 240's struts. I have convinced a local sports car guy to come by to help me. I ordered my stuyts from a local parts store and they arrived this morning. We have my car torn down and were getting ready to start the re-install on the first strut,...when I notice a warning on the box to, "Make certain I use the correct amont and type of oil in the strut housing". What the heck are they talking about? What oil? What kind do I use? How much do I use,...and Why am I using it? My Haynes manual does not reference oil. I have read several threads on this forum about the struts and have never read anything about oil. Any quick help wi…

OK,..so first of all, THANK YOU to everyone who has responed to my two prior threads regarding replacing my struts. UPDATE: We replaced the back struts last night. Not a terribly complicated job and easier than I had feared. It did take a long time though. We started at 6:30 and didn't get finished until around 9:30,...including clean up. Three hours to do just the back. The first side took much longer as we were learning as we went. The second one took less than an hour. NOW MY NEW CONCERN: I was replacing the struts becasue my car rode very rough and "bottomd out" on every small dip,...with a hard "clunk". It rode like a car that had been lowered. When you tr…

With the ignition "on" and the AFM flap pushed in, I can hear the fuel pump relay click, fuel pump come on, and an immediate hissing sound coming from my fuel pressure regulator. If I hold the AFM flap in for a few seconds/minutes, my car will start and run for a few seconds then sputter out and die. I'm thinking I need a new fuel pressure regulator, I pulled the vacuum hose off the bottom, it was totally dry. All connections on it are tight, shouldn't the fuel pump stop running when the fuel pipe is up to pressure?

Hey guys, My electrical system is stock, but for some reason I can't seem to get the hazard switch to work for the life of me. I noticed that it didn't work when my car died on the side of the road. Does anybody know if there a fuse that shorted that I don't know about? When I pull on the 73' hazard switch, the turn signals stop working when you pull on the switch. I looked all around and everythign seemed fine. One thing to note though, is that the cigarette lighter is unplugged. I'm stumped. Thanks

I just installed the Champion 3 Row Radiator, and a new waterpump recently. All seems fine, but I have been noticing coolant leaking along the chassis' side railing (if you will) on the right side. This is below the spark plugs and the fusible links. Around that area I've seen small drops of coolant on the top of the starter, and even on the side of the battery if you can believe that. I will post pictures if needed.

Hi all: I haven't started digging into this much yet, but searched and didn't find my exact symptoms. Here they are: 1) While driving along and with everything working fine, my tach will all of a sudden jump to much higher numbers and then move erratically. 2) At the same time that the tach act up, I'll notice some rough running - even at speed I can hear the car missing. Althought the engine starts running rough, it's obvious the tach readings are incorrect (jumping very quickly and reading 5000+ RPM when I'm in 4th gear at 50 MPH, for example). 3) If I come to a stop while this is happening, the idle is very rough and generally slow. 4) Here's the fun one: this c…

Hi All: I have a '75 280Z that recently had engine-out body and paint and I'm trying to get it running now that everything is back in place. At first it wouldn't crank, and I traced that to a connector installed incorrectly. Now it's cranking, but I have no spark. Here's where I am: 1) Have tested with in-line spark tester and there is no spark at any plug and doesn't appear to be any at coil 2) Followed FSM guidelines for ignition system checking and everything was fine until I found a 'no go' result on the pick-up coil (involved testing wires at the transistor ignition box) 3) Replaced pick-up coil 4) Still have no go result on it 5) Have checked all the connecto…

I'm in the process of installing an electronic fuel pump, and the only green wire routed in the back is this guy: The previous owner must of done this splice and attached it to the black wire to the fuel gauge reader. The yellow electrical tape looks suspcious, like it did not come from the factory. Can anybody help me confirm if I should undo it and use it for my + for my electronic fuel pump? I have not jumped the green wire in the passenger side yet, so there's no concern for shorts. Thanks!

i hope somene has a wire diagram for a 1971 zed. Basically i used the stock fog lamp wire harness to install lights. Everything went fine. My turn signals dont work. Tested the switch-good Tested the flasher on a bench-good Checked continuity from the flasher to the fuse box-good Fuse-good Power to fuse-no power Continuity from the fuse box to the wire harness plug under the hood-good I tried applying 12v power to the circuit to energize it-no good Im stumped. Maybe my diagnosing is flawed. Not sure. Im not an electrical engineer. Yet...
