superglued ears back on to measure, both lids are identicle valves are different lengths, pretty sure that means i need different length float bow lid ears the good lid, 11mm from lip to hole I received my su carbs in a box, mostly disassembled. I have been cleaning and reassembling them. The box of parts contained two float bowl lids, both stamped with "F" next to the Hitachi logo. The ears on both are the same length, one of the lids had the ears broken off. I have arranged to purchase another lid from someone but they said "I have several lids and all the ears are about the same length, but the mounting holes for the float are at different heights. Can you measure t…

I plan on installing a new fuel sending unit in my 1972 240z tomorrow. Do I have to drop the fual tank to perform this installation or can it be done with the tank still in the car?

I have a 77 280z all stock original 78000 miles that jumped the timing chain bending the valves. I replaced the head and timing chain and it did it again but luckly the valves didn't hit the pistons this time. I reset the timing chain and tightened the tensioners and it ran perfect. This morning I went to start it and it turned over very fast like it did it a third time. Can anyone give any suggestions what I am doing wrong? maybe a cheap ebay timing set that I used?

Ok, so i recently acquired a 73 240z 4 speed. I have been doing some fuel things and other things. ive replaced the voltage regulator, alt, mechanical pump, fuel lines, electrical fuel pump, vent hoses, gas tank, belts. Also, I put some heat wrap around the fuel lines to help prevent vapor lock. No not exhaust wrap but I have that to and will be wrapping the exhaust manifolds later. After getting the car to run, I do not have the tank installed so ive got the lines running to a gas can haha, well I went to check the electrical fuel pump to see if it was working and it was not. The relays in side the cabin seem to be working, ive tested them too. I had to pour gas down …

This car has been sitting for about six months. The alternator, battery, fuel pump, filter, and plugs had all been changed previously. She'll fire up, crank over and then die within a second or so. I'll try starting her again, and she won't even turn over. If I wait for a couple minutes, she'll crank, but die again after a second. I don't think it's the starter, rather a fuel issue. Any thoughts?

Hey gang I had my tires rotated this afternoon at my local mechanic. While they had the car in the air they noticed that the rear output seal, speedo seal and the shifter seal were all leaking trans fluid. Does anyone happen to know where one could procure these seals? Thanks Jan

I got my 1977 280Z out for the first time this year and when I accelerated from a stop a steel bar in the rear suspension broke. I'm not sure what the bar is called, maybe a trailer bar or sway bar or mustache bar or strut support? It is bolted to the frame/unibody in the center right behind the rear axle and connects to each side under the struts I believe. Any ideas of what it's called, how to get it off, and replace it? Thanks! Jeff J.

I'm guessing many of you know that the rear hatch window weather strip seal (79-83 280zx) has been out of production for many years with no substitute available. This might be a crazy idea, so I thought i would throw it out there. Thinking of purchasing hatch, breaking out window in order to remove hatch seal & trim intact to reinstall in my 1980 280zx when paint is complete. Body shop destroyed old seal removing window for paint thinking these were readily available. Has anybody gone this route? Think it's doable?

My ECU seems to lose ground or connection when I drive for long periods of time. It pretty much stops working, and overloads the injectors. The only way to fix this problem is to push really hard on the connector on the ECU. I've taken it out and clean it a few times. Another problem I have that might be related too it is the tick hand, and the light above the heat controls. These work about 10 percent of the time. If I park on a slope, they work 99 percent of the time when I get in my car. Within 5 or 10 minutes later, they both stop working. When the tick hand is working, the car seems to run better. I'm losing ground on my wiring harness? Are these related?

So, I took my Z for a spin today, zipped around for a bit and topped off the tank will 5 gals of fresh fuel. When I was done at the gas station I hit the frontage road (feeder road here in Texas) and just as I was going to enter the freeway - NOTHING, no bang, no pop AND no ignition. The engine just quit. So I coasted to a street that enters my neighborhood and found a shady spot to figure things out or wait for a wrecker. The engine would crank strongly, but no ignition. So following the same advice I had given to others here on the forum, I checked the fuses, fusible links, cable to EFI -all good. The fuel pump is working well, because hear it and after muc…
