I've done too much work so far to cut corners and try to use 'straightened' motor mount brackets. Likely was bent when pulling the motor. Anyone have a spare set lying around? My eBay options start at $80, which seems extreme considering the number of parts cars lying around. Nearest junkyard that I know will have them is nearly 2 hours away. Should have addressed this a long while ago.

I was at a car show this weekend and driving back the car was getting harder and harder to put into gear. I finally could not get into gear so I coasted to a store/ gas station. I had some looked at the operating cylinder as I pushed the clutch and nothing happened. I checked the fluid level in the clutch master cylinder and it was full but very black looking. The clutch master is not leaking. I have a 11/75 - 76 280Z and was wondering if I should replace the clutch master cylinder or get a repair kit to fix the one I have? If the repair kit where can I get one? I see there are 6 different ones listed on Rock Auto for my car. Not sure which one to get. For the opera…

Hello all Over the past couple of weeks I've been having a problem with starting my car. This is what occurs, when I get in the car and turn the key to start there is a delay - as in I have to wait a few moments (usually a second or two) before the starter engages. I originally thought it was key portion of the starter system (the back side of the key). That fixed the problem for a couple of weeks but now its back and is worse. This morning I got in my car and turned it over. It started once and then nothing, every time I turned the key the voltage would drop but the starter would not engage. The battery is new - about a month old - and the starter works lovely when it wo…

Gentlemen and ladies This afternoon I pulled my exhaust manifold off to replace the gasket (if found the 5 leaks I had). Well the #1 exhaust liner is loose, I can move it around nicely in the port. Could this cause issues? I've seen people remove these but I don't feel like doing all that work if I can just leave it in there. Thanks Jan

Ok, I'm feeling like an idiot here, I'm replacing my front shocks and a number of suspension bushings on my '73 240z and I keep finding references to strut mount bearings that I don't seem to have. Could somebody post a picture of how everything goes together at the top of the front struts? I have a sinking suspicion that whoever did this job last just left the damn things out. Pictures would help me see either where I ought to be looking if I'm massively overlooking things, or where new ones ought to go when I put this thing together correctly. edit: photo of where I think it might supposed to be?

The following may not be connected to each other. I've been having problems with few electrical things. My tack hang only works sometimes. The dash light above the air controls work sometimes. My car misses at idle. Sometimes my fuel pump like to run really hard, but if you turn the key off and back on it stops. One thing I noticed is when it's running hard. I can turn on my turn signals and it will get quieter each time the signals beep. Would any of the above be related to each other?

I have a very original '77Z with 45,000 miles. When I first got it about 5 years ago, I took everything off the engine, and sort of "cleaned it with a toothbrush" and replaced most worn out wires, leaving the original connectors. I did rebuild the fuel rail, and replaced the injectors, plugs, wires, and fuel and vacuum hoses, new fuel pump and drained the gas tank. Put headers on it and it has run like clockwork, seemingly timed perfectly. I take it down the road about once a month. Last week, when I started it, I immediately noticed it to be misfiring. It started right up, and I took it down the road, misfiring 90% of the time, unless I was WOT 4000rpm or so, and it …

Hi I've got a 72 240z. I recently changed the thermostat housing and used A LOT of penetrating oil to remove it and the fuel rail. I put it back together today and cranked it up. It ran fine but I noticed a good bit of smoke coming from the engine. I shut it off and stood by with a fire extinguisher and tried to figure out why it was smoking. The smoke seemed to be coming off of the exhaust manifold. Is this just penetrating oil burning off? What should I do to make it not smoke? There doesn't appear to be any leaks in the valve cover gasket or the thermostat housing. Also I just put the air cleaner housing with a new air filter on. Thanks Will

I have a new grill guard, (the bar that connects to the top of the two front bumper overriders). I can't figure out how to install it. It has two bolt holes where it bolts to the over riders. But I can't tell if I am supposed to drill holes through the rubber strips and install it OVER the rubber,....of if I am supposed to trim the rubber strip off the top section and bolt the bar dircetly to the chrome. Has anyone had experence with this installation?
