I pulled the injectors to send in for ultrasonic cleaning and decided that leaving the ports open wasn't a good idea, so I crumpled up a bit of foil for each port to block them off. OOPS ! One piece was a little too small and slid into the port and disappeared into the guts of the L28. It is about the size of a jelly bean and my mechanic says it will probably just blow through when i crank the engine because it is foil. I am somewhat skeptical and have visions of a bent valve, but I'm not real crazy about trying to pull off an intake manifold either. I am a dentist, not a real gearhead like some of you guys. What says the peanut gallery ? Fire it up and pray when th…

I been trying to get this poor z running right again. I just installed a thermostat housing and got everything plugged back in and its idling funny and farting. Today I installed new plugs and its still running the same in the video. Sounds kind of like a vacuum leak but I can't see anything. The car has been down for about 3 months. I was thinking maybe it is the AFM?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

After removing front strut assembly, I found this..... The oversized washers should have been a clue to what i'd find. My guess is that he was trying to replace the struts without removing the entire assembly. Does anyone have any suggestions (preferably cheap) on how to fix this?

For any of you who have kept up with my progress, you probably already know I have gotten the car running. Today I got my gas tank back from Crawford Z Car Service in Nashville. I am near the point of having a "road-test" worthy ride. Here is where I am at....I have replaced the clutch master cylinder, the hard line that runs from it to the slave, the rubber hose at the slave, and the slave cylinder. I have bled the system and gotten clutch pedal pressure (there is tension in the pedal; compared to the "light as paper" feel it had beforehand). While the car is running (I have it on jack stands), I push in the clutch to the floor and attempt to put the car in gear....…

Ok, so I've been restoring my 72 240z. It was sitting in a barn for 15 or so years. It had about a half tank of bad gas in it, so I drained it and attempted to do the por-15 tank sealer kit. I decided I wasn't satisfied with my work so I took it to a radiator shop to have it boiled out and sealed professionally. I reinstalled the tank and put in all new fuel lines. I got a new fuel pump and wanted to see if everything was working up to that point. So I bypassed the fuel filter and connected the gas line running from the tank to the fuel pump and pumped it by hand. The gas that came out of the line had a pretty strong green tint to it. I pumped about 2 medium sized mcdonal…

I took apart my thermostat housing to find this... The thermostat was bent and pushed up off of the seat. The car has been running fine and has never shown any signs of overheating. This is a track car in which I am running a Rebello L30 with blocked heater circuit, aluminium 3 core rad and a 20psi cap. Has anyone ever seen this sort of thing before? I don't want to just throw a new thermostat in there if this is a symptom of something else being wrong with the cooling system. Thanks

I have a 72 with a completely stock l24. The car was a barn find and I have been restoring it. I did the Ztherapy carb rebuilt kit, Replaced the fuel pump and all the fuel lines. The gas is definitely getting to the carbs because when I disconnect the line above the carb, gas comes out. I sprayed starter fluid into the carbs and crank it. It revs to about 3000 rpms, idles for maybe a second then dies. What should I do next to get it started?
