As stated in the title, I went to school for the year, and when I came back for the summer, I couldn't find the keys or the spares. Worst case scenario, they're lost forever. The car is in a garage and the car doors are unlocked. So I'm sure that makes it a bit easier. What are my options?

Hey Guys, Today on my way home from work the throttle stuck momentarily on my '71. The RPM's shot up quite high (I have no idea how high as I was more concerned with getting the pedal to unstick) and a plume of smoke came out of the exhaust pipe. After that the car seemed to run okay until I got off the highway. At the stoplights the engine kept dying. I was able to crank it over by giving it some gas and keeping the RPM's up, but as soon as I let off the accelerator it would shut off. Any ideas? Thanks, Mike

280z/1978z Left turn signal lights are on but will not blink. Right side works fine, hazard lights work fine. Both left side lights come on and so does the dash indicator light. I have not tried a new flasher yet, thought someone might have an answer for me. I also have searched the FSM but cannot find what the relay that is under the passenger side seat is for. Mine has melted the plastic and I have unplugged it with no apparent loss of what ever it relays to. I need to know what it does and if I should replace it and if so where do I find one. Thanks for any help anyone can give. John

Thought i would throw this out there to see if anyone else may have encountered this problem. After 15 months in the body shop and all the dust that goes with it, I encountered a few electrical glitches. I corrected 99% of them by removing the ecu and cleaning contacts and plug. However the problem with the oil pressure gauge remains. Gauge seems to operate correctly after warm up. Whenever I hit the gas pedal the gauge dumps to zero then returns to normal as soon as I release it. I have extra gauge cluster to replace it with , but thought I,d ask if anyone had any other ideas before i remove the dash.

Alright, I know several of you have kept up with my progress in the New Member threads....well the day has come that I am ready to turn the key over on the car. For a quick history, I bought a '78 280 that had been sitting for a year or two. Since last October I have followed great advice and steps on refreshing a sitting engine. Just minutes ago we turned the key with the coil not plugged up to see if we registered any oil pressure, and we did not. I know it could be simply that the gauge does not work, but could also be something much worse. I am wandering what some troubleshooting steps may be, or where to go to next. Thanks in advance for any help. Jamie

Well as our long pitiful football season comes to a close (0-10), one good thing comes from it.....I can pick back up on working on the Z. I was able to do a few things today. I put on the new Brake Master Cylinder, ran the new hard clutch line from clutch master to slave, put on all new brake hoses, and a new oil sending unit. For those of you who keep up with my progress, I had the car running today! Now, somewhere over the last year I have managed to lose/misplace the slave cylinder to bell housing bolts. Can anyone help me out by letting me know what size/type/thread length I need to go buy? Thanks in advance. It sure was a great Z day. '78 280z 4 Speed Manual J…

Hello I need to get the door handle off. I have already removed the door panel and the lock. I unscrewed the two nuts that hold the door handle in place but there seems to be some sort of wire clip holding the door handle to a rod. I cant get this thing off for the life of me. Im hoping someone could give me some tips on getting the door handle unlinked from the rod. some instructions would be extremely appreciated. Heres a pic to show you what I mean

Well, Been working on my 70 240, and going slowly through the electrical system. Even before I replaced the fuse box, and put the 60 amp alternator on, the car would start with a jump, run just fine, and start up if tried again quickly after stopping. But leave the car for a little while, and the battery drains. Went through a battery testing this as well (battery ended up being bad as well). Would love to know what people suggest for going through and chasing phantom issues.

I've got a 1978 280Z all stock and I've had a few people tell me that white smoke comes out of the exhaust. Well today I have seen it for myself. Is it my head gasket that has gone bad? It only does this when I get on it. And if so how hard is it to change the head gasket on the L28E. Sorry if these are stupid questions, and thank you.

I own a '78 280Z that has had the parking brake seized up. I have purchased a new cable and now I am kind of clueless as to put it on. I only ordered the cable itself with nothing else from rock auto. I've been under the car to install it and have followed the original cable and have ran into these blocks that the original cable sets in. There is no way to get the old cable out of these block (I call them blocks cause I don't know what the correct term is) besides cutting the old cable and pulling it through. I just need to know if I messed up on my order or if there is a way to get the cable off an on. Thanks
