Hey all. I went to change the trans oil last night (5 speed from an zx) and it had quite a bit of metal on the magnetic plug. How much you ask? well if I spread it out it might be the size of a quarter round and thick. It is all fine metal but still I am wondering if this is a problem. I have no idea when the last time the trans oil was changed. I want to flush with say a quart of gas then after a nights wait refill it. Might do it again after a couple hundred of miles just to see the new amount. Any thoughts?

I was running through my wire harness today to check and see what connectors need to be cleaned or replaced. Well I found that my water temp sensor one of the wires was completely off of it with only one connected, after pulling it off gently to look at it closer the other wire came off. So my question is how do i pull the connector pins out so i can re connect and solder the wire back in?

So I've narrowed my issues down to a bad vacuum advance dashpot (the breaker plate was lubed up & moves very smoothly). I can't for the life of me find anyone who supplies the dashpot alone; every place I check says to buy the whole distributor and a new dashpot will be included. Does anyone have any suggestions of a source for new dashpots?? Thanks!

im not sure what cam i have in my engine. i bought a 71 240z that had a L28 engine, 5speed trany, upgrades supsension, 2.5" exhaust, and various other parts. i am trying to figure out what has been done to the engine.

Hey guys need some help with a electric fuel pump thats not working, just finishing the resto on this 71 240z so almost everthing is new including the motor, running a HLH upgrade as well as a MSA 60 amp zx alt. We started the car for the first time at the mechanics no problems then loaded onto the trailer to go back to my place fired it back up to drive it into the garage and all seemed fine, About a week later went to start it and the battery was dead so i charged the battery again which now works fine but the fuel pump doesn't work when I turn the ignition switch on (pump connected via a toggle switch which is on). I've tried a multimeter and tested for 12v at the fuel…

i just got a new hood for my car. my last one was in bad shape. so, i put on the new one and couldn't get it to close. after a few adjustments i finally got it to close, but now i cant get it open. i think it has something to do with the cable. is there any way i can remove my hood and start all over?

My Z is going into the muffler shop at 1:30 today. I've noticed most early Z's have the muffler more vertical than horizontal. Is there a reason for that or is it personal preference? I even showed the muffler shop guy some pictures of Z's with the muffler hung vertical and he says that it looks bad. I do prefer to hang it horizontal, but I don't want to find out later that hanging it horizontal creates issues with something else.

It was a daily ritual I loved for several years and then one day my ADD said no more, we are going to focus on something else for awhile.
