I am sitting in my engine bay, hands in the clutch housing and swearing my head off trying to install the bearing with the withdrawal lever using the holder spring. I am using the manual. It just says install the withdrawal lever, release bearing, and bearing sleeve, connect them with holder spring. How and in what order? I simply can't do it so I must be missing something. I can put it together out of the engine but not in the housing. Is there a technique? I have not done this before so be kind.

Hello folks, I was hoping to find some help with getting my headlights to turn on. Right now I'm just testing the wiring harness, so there is no motor in the car, however the starter and alternator are wired into the engine bay, and the battery is on a trickle charger at~11-12volts. 11/1971 240z. No dome light No door ajar switches No door buzzer No rear side marker No rear hatch heater No rear speaker No antenna No radio No heater blower or heater controls The PO had installed an aftermarket radio, but I'm pretty sure I sorted all that out. I've checked the headlight and the connecting harness by wiring them directly to the battery so that portion works. When placed on …

Help! My 260/240Z manual says to torque the side flange bolts on the differential to 40 ft-lb. I tried that and just snapped one off at 20 ft-lbs. should the torque really be 40 IN-LBS?

I was wondering if replacing the vacuum advance was a relatively easy task and also how it's done (do I need to remove the distributor, disassemble the distributor, etc.)? I think mine is busted - doesn't hold any vacuum whatsoever (used a vacuum pump). I apologize if this topic has already been gone through before, I wasn't able to find any specific threads on it. And just to clarify, this is the vacuum advance correct? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Standard-Motor-Products-VC351-Distributor-Vacuum-Advance-Nissan-200ZX-/190662110088?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2c6458eb88&vxp=mtr#ht_506wt_1139 Was planning on purchasing this one. Can't seem to find a…

I recently got a new to me 72 Cali Z, it is super clean with very nice upgrades beside its LS1 conversion, I have crazy money in it . So here is my odd situation, at a recent coffee/meet I met a fellow Z nut like my self and he made me a proposal , he wants my super clean euro tail lights, my super nice JDM naked bumpers , my leather Recaro seats and front clear lens turn signals. He will give me his red tail lights in nice shape, the bumpers also in very condition with newly rubber inserts , his factory seats in decent order with good firm foam and the amber front signals. He offer me 2,250.00 cash and help in the swap. This is tempting Your input will be welcome.

For the last 10 days my 77 seems to be loosing power. It idles just fine and revs great. But under load it has does not have any power. Uphill is the worst. it seems to be getting worse and I can hear a whistle from somewere forward of the drivers seat. Its hard to pin down because it only does this under load but not at idle. A coworker suggested it may be a clogged catalitic, but I am not really convinced, I am not discounting it ether. I have found no smoking gun in the vacuum leak department other than the bad PCV hose. It is sealed up with a tempory fix till the new one arrives. I dont think it's fuel delivery (not discounting it yet). Anyhow I am sort of at a loss o…

When I disassembled the oil pump, the gasket was essentially none-existent, a paper-like surface was stuck to both parts more-or-less like glue rather than gasket. It can not be removed by finger nail. What should I do for reassembly? I am thinking that I leave the paper surface and use Aviation Form A Gasket? I can cut a new paper gasket with an xacto but I wonder if it is worth stripping the old stuff as it is bonded so well? I will have to use a chemical gasket remover to kick start it.

The relay under the passenger seat. Please tell me what it controls. I am redoing the interior and discovered that this relay has been hot and melted the plastic. I need to know what it does and where to get one. Thanks JB

The bottom tube of my 6/70 240Z Macpherson strut has a horizontal plate inside about 3/4â€ from the bottom opening. Recently purchased new ball joints with larger diameter stud and used later-model steering knuckles fit together well. My problem is that the new stud is about 1/4â€ longer than the original stud and won't fit inside the strut, interfering with the strut plate. I haven’t cut down the stud of the new ball joint yet because I feared it would be of hardened steel (difficult to cut) and the hole for the cotter pin/castellated nut would fall right in the middle of the cut. Alternatively, I wasn’t sure if drilling a whole through the strut plate would affect…
