I adjusted my valves according to this: http://www.picturetrail.com/sfx/album/view/1803105 http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/valveadjust/index.html After I adjusted it I began to hear a ticking noise, very loud as if something is clinging against something else. Its constant, I hear it on idle and through the rpm range. However everything else seems ok, engine idles super smooth (better than before), revs fine, no hesitation. I did a compression check and I got starting from 1-6(165 165 170 170 165 165). I thought maybe the oil tube next to the rocker arms might be rubbing against, but all is fine and I have clearance. I found out that while the engine is…

Well guys, Oliver at Z Specialties came through and got me a brake bridge, so with that last piece of the puzzle it was time to get the Z back on the road for a test drive. Went smoothly with the following snafus: - Braking. Very weak. All brakes have been rebuilt, new MC. Bled all starting with the MC, pass rear, driver rear, pass front, driver front. The red "BRAKE" light comes on in the speedo at the end of pedal travel. Front discs are cleared of rust (mostly), so the pistons aren't frozen from what I can tell. Fluid levels topped up. Is my brake booster dead? - Timing. Tried to set the timing after the first excursion around the block. Warm engine, vacuum…

I recently just installed my freshly rebuilt L24 back into my 73 240. Before i disassembled the engine the car had hard starting problems. Even after my father and i dropped the fuel tank and replaced the vapor, supply and return lines, it still had this problem of hard starting. The engine would crank run for a few seconds and then die like it wasnt getting enough fuel, but you could keep it running by working the throttle. Now, after engine has been rebuilt and installed, i hooked all the electrics and fuel and ignition system up it is still doing the same thing. I have spark and it will run with starting fluid but it dies. i dont have any emissions or PCV, or cooling e…

Im working on a 74 260z drag car. It has 4 lug but the owner wants to swith over to 5 lug. I have tried rotor/hub assembly from a 1980 280Z that we where told would work. They are completely different style, but will fit the spindle. The 4lug has solid rotor and the 5lug is vented. Any info would be great.

Hey there... Well just recently purchased two Z's a 73' 240 and a 76' 280 (which has been sitting since 97' from what I could tell.) I drained the gas, oil, and coolant then turned the motor over by hand and everything rotated just fine. I Installed a new battery, fuel pump, fuel filter, spark plugs and fluids. Turned the car over but would not start so I checked the fuel and was getting no fuel due to the gas tank plugged up. I dropped the gas tank and will be cleaning that out but for now I started it up using a gas can. I primed the pump and the fuel filter and it fired right up then stalled with in a couple of seconds. tried it a couple more times and it does the sa…

Hey guys, I drove the Z around today. In the morning all was good and dandy. Later this afternoon when it was nice it hot outside (100 actually) I drove down on the freeway to get back to my house. Everytime I let off the throttle it felt as if my car was braking (or being pushed back...er hesistating, I don't know the best way to describe it but it would literally feel as if I had hit the brakes or something had excessive drag). It does it in every gear it feels and I don't really know what it could be? Any ideas? If its a fuel issue I can fix that, but it just doesn't seem like that to me, it seem more of a mechanical type of drag. When I got home I checked all the rims…
