My tach is dead. PO had installed column mounted tach (light wired to left front marker). Removed wing nut on back (only one was installed) and tach won't budge. How much force is required?

Hey Z Car Experts, I have a few questions regarding my early 74 260Z suspension. 1. I am running 235/60R14's on 82 ZX 6-spoke wheels on my car. When I have a passenger inside, the passenger rear tire rubs on big dips in the road. This does not occur unless I have an extra 150lbs in the car. The driver side never rubs the fender driven solo or with passenger. I realize now (after buying the 235's) that I should have bought thinner tires. I replaced the tires with the same size that were on these 6 spoke wheels, but I think ZX's may have had more room for a wider tire than a standard Z. i just recently came across this problem a few days ago and have been scratching my head as to the answer. the car was running fine then all of a sudden sputtered and died completely, i pulled it over checked the wires to see if anything disconnected nothing was so i started it up again and it worked drove a bit longer then it died again. checked once more found a lose sparkplug (it actually separated on the distributor cap) fixed that with my crimps and such. and it would not start after that. any help as to where i should look? im currently waiting on my service manual to come in but have alot of schematics on my comp if any one can help.

Where to buy a new License plate lamp for a late 260/280? Anyone ever removed the internal splash shield in the cam cover to clear the gunge out fully? How would you reseal the screws so they don't come out, dab of epoxy resin to seal them in? Thanks, Steve

the car will drive normal for the first 3 min, then... I was starting from a stop and the car stalls (not me) So i start the car and floor it this time as the engine sputters me into second. Then as im switching gears the engine takes off and redlines (not on the gas anymore and clutch in) and continues to redline for 5 seconds until shutting off the engine. i pulled over checked my linkage and did a cursory look at the vacuum lines: everything checked out fine so i started it and drove home without anymore problems. this same thing has happened 2 days in a row in the same intersection driving home from work. Any ideas?

Whats up everyone, hoping someone can give me some more ideas. So my 72 240Z has a 5-speed, and when the car is off, I can shift into any gear easily and without any effort. When the car is on, I can barely shift into first, if at all. And when I am able to get it into gear, it takes a herculean effort to do so. Once I get moving, I can shift into other gears with relatively easy effort, getting easier as I upshift into higher gears. If I come to a stop and sit for a while (like at a light for example) it starts all over again and I can barely get into first gear. Hi guys, I am trying to help a 16 year old with a charging problem via phone and texting and could use some help while I search for clues. It is a 77 280z, all stock. The voltage meter apparently works but the red altenator charge light is on. The altenator has been tested and is producing 14.4 volts at the altenator, but no charge to the battery. The battery obviously goes dead in a relatively short time. As best I can determine (150 miles away) when the engine is reved, the charge light goes out. I have to replace my timing chain - the head is off the motor. This car is a 70 Z with an automatic, so I can't rely on a clutch to keep the motor from turning over - how do I get the crank bolt off without turning the motor over? Is there a special tool or does someone have a tip? I've searched already but to no avail.... any advice would be appreciated.

I bought this steering wheel on eBay. I need the horn mechanism. It has smaller spokes and does not have the deep-dish as the 280Z wheel. It also has a plastic ring bolted to the bottom of the hub. The 280Z horn will not fit. Can anyone tell me what this is from? I need to find another wheel to rob the horn parts. Can anyone tell me what this is from? (I cannot change wheels because I installed a new leather cover on this wheel. Ouch!) Thanks for looking. Hope someone can help. Questions? Comments? Help!
