Dash has been out for some time while I've been slowly doing a refinish/crack repair. My heater core was bi-passed when I bought the car, guessing it had issues, and the metal pipes sticking out of the firewall that were bi-passed were rusted quite a bit. I have a new heater-core but I have no clue where the old one is, I removed some stuff but to no avail and the FSM didn't help a bit as usual The radiator visible in center is for the A/C correct? I really hope that is not the heater core as the one I bought looks NOTHING like that besides being a radiator. Anyhow here is what my car looks like, now I read it is somewhere on the passenger side, I'm guessing behind th…

I have two '76 280z engines, one with 100,00+ miles, one with 50,000. i am planning on keeping the 50,000 for my project car, and i took the 100,000 miler to my auto class to clean up/potentially repair, etc. Well, we cracked it open and it is a gem; besides being dirty and carbon-y because of its age, it is in great condition. I am refurbishing it in class and now my question is: should i sell the engine as a whole (what do they generally go for)? Or can i get more for it in parts? any imput is appreciated! thanks!

Hi all Anyone know where to get the Cowl Grille corner rubbers/plastics that sit under the rear corners of the Cowl, just in front of the A pillars? Thanks, Steve

I have a 1976 280z that we need a rear glass for and a local guy claims to have one. It looks right, but can someone tell me what years and models are interchangeable and if the coupe and 2+2 models take the same rear glass? thanks for the help.

Is anyone familiar with speedometer gears, the plastic gear that fits into the side of the transmission? My stock one was destroyed, I purchased an used one - 17 teeth on the gear, and my speedomoter now reads about 5% slower than my true speed. For exxample, an indicated 60 mph is actully closer to 65 mph, (as tested by a second hand on watch against a some measured miles). Any suggestions on whether I need to install a gear with fewer teeth or more teeth? I can't remember if I have a 3.36 or a 3.54 rear axle and tires are not stock - 205/60/14, so calculating from rear a axle ratio or tire size won't help. Thanks Jim Bell

Anybody got an exploded diagram of the proportioning valve or a good explanation of how it goes together, my old one cracked and the bone yard one was really gummed up, so like an idiot I took it apart, then got called away and forgot exactly how it goes back together (what a dumb arse).

Hello all, I have a 1973 240Z that I have just completed front brake upgrade and rear disk brake conversion. Front being 1982 Toyota 4x4 calipers worked perfect. The rear disk conversion was from Modern Motorsports using the 240sx calipers, problem 14 inch wheels now won’t fit back on? Will the Rota RB 16x7 with a +4mm offset fit over the calipers? Or would the Rota RB 16x8 +10mm offset work better? Thanks

Yup.....It's really sad and quite boneheaded of me I admit. My glove-box also lacks the key code so that it would be an easy fix. So, I am faced with paying over $100 for the locksmith to come out or buy a used ignition with key and install it myself. Anyone have one for sale for a 78 Z? I already checked the classifieds. Are these a bitch to install? Any suggestions for this dilemma would be appreciated......Yes, I will make a spare! Thanks! Andy

My 280z is only getting 14mpg... I've replaced the fuel filter, and the filter near the tank which raised me from 10mpg to the 14mpg. I've replaced the spark plugs and the wires with NGKs. My engine holds idle at 800rpms with no problems except when my engine is cold it gets stuck at 600-500 if it hits 500, it wants to die unless I rev it until it warms up. Sometimes when I start my engine when it gets stuck at 600-500rpm it will backfire at the intake when I rev it and then after roughly 2-3 backfires it will idle normally. It also backfires at the intake without the AFM attached so I don't see my AFM being an issue. I've already fixed my vacuum leaks and my fuel pressur…
