Desperately seeking tires! I have decided to stick with the original 14â€ AR Libre wheels on my 72 restoration project. That being said there are a limited number of good tire options. I posted this on my ongoing forum post with very little response. Arne did give me some good options. Les has suggested the possibility of the Toyo DOT race tires which I like but I am a little worried that they will not fill the wheel wells thus looking a little odd. Any one used or seen these used on a stock suspension Z? Arne suggested that I take a look at the Hoosier Speedsters 205/65-14. They will fit the 5.5â€ rim width and they are close to the original overall height but I a…

I recently installed my 60-amp, internally regulated alternator. After driving the car a few times, now my battery has died, and doesn't want to take a charge. I charge it, start the car a few times, then park it over night, dead. I have tried diagnosing, but I am pretty useless when it comes to electrical issues. I am wondering if there could be some type of drain on the battery, possibly related to the plug that I inserted when eliminating the voltage regulator? Or is it just a coincidence, and my battery just happened to be dying as I was making the upgrade. I have never had to charge the battery before, except after the Winter hibernation. The battery is about …

I am getting close to finishing my Z. I'm wondering if anyone has experience with Power window kits? Also looking for clear headlight covers for a "G" nose. Any input will be appreciated.

New problem just developed, haven't had time to anything but basic troubleshooting. Car has been running fine. Drove, parked, shut car off. Heard fuel pump running, gauge on dash shows a discharge (red light). Pulled negative cable from battery, pump stops. Put cable back on, I can hear the fuel pump relay click, but pump doesn't run. Turn key on, pump comes on for "priming" and never shuts off; have to pull battery cable again. One thing I tried but don't know if it holds true for this car like some others: started car, runs fine. Pulled battery cable while running, car dies. (should it not keep running if alternator is fine?) It's going to be a couple of days …

Hello all. I am asking for some jetting advisefor my triple 44s. I have a 73 240 with a 3.0 kit,e88 big valve head ported, with a Isky cam, (360/500), all valves set to 010" cold, k&N filters, petronix ignition, holley fuel pump set to 3 1/2 psi no return, 7 dg advance timing @idle. Went through mikunis and set all float levels to 13mm accel pump to 7.5 mm and used the highest, (Richest) hole for the cotter pin on the pump lever, all jets are tight and clean. The car currently has 22 main air with 180 main fuel, 57.5 pilot and 45 accel pump. I am expierencing a flat spot around 2400 to 3400 rpm or at about 10% to 20% throttle, much more when engine reaches operatin…

Hey, need some advice for a novice again. I've learned know the firing order for a L28 is 153624 (counterclockwise) on the distributor, my questions is that when I trace the wires to the actual plugs on the head the order doesn't make sense to me (not in order as they come off the distributor, or in numerical order). Please let me know the order (from front of the car to the firewall) that the sparkplug wires should be in at the plug itself. Is it 153624 as well?, if so, I've found my problem... Thanks in advance... KCDC Keith 1976 280z

So anybody here have any ideas as to how i could get better gas mileage outta this car of mine? I drive about 20 to 60 miles a day. (pizza delivery) I'm not sure if it has something wrong with it or if its just normal but the car only gets 14 mpg in the city and 18 on the freeway. Here's an overview of what i have, 1972 240z with stock 2.4 liter, 4 speed tranny, stock dual S.U.'s (tuned by Steve at Ztherapy), and r180 rear end. Runs great and tranny or clutch doesn't seem to be slipping, but it needs an alignment and the rear end clunks and i think it should be a little faster. Here's what I've done to it so far. Tune up--- New Plugs/wires, K&N air filter, 280zx Elect…

I just bought a 1978 Z my first Z that I have owned. The engine is clean and the previous owner had kept her paperwork in order. Other than needing a new battery it seemed to be running fine until tonight. There was a faint clicking sound that got a little louder for just a few seconds and then it shut down. When trying to restart the car it made the standard starter clicking sound and would not turn over. Does anyone have any ideas? Trying to figure out if it is within my pay scale to fix myself or if I need to take it to a shop?
