Anyone have a picture of the proportioning valve on a (10\70)71 240? I believe its different than the 73 and mounts in back. If someone has picture of the valve and/or picture of how the hard lines are routed to it, it would be very helpful. Also..the brake warning switch is still mounted on the driver side of engine compartment right? Thanks. Brian

Hello guys, So once again the little rubber boots that connect the intake with the AFM have fallen apart. I bought new ones from Nissan about a year and a half ago but they once again have a hole in them. So does anyone know where I could buy pipe (intake) and get rid of the rubber boots? Jan

Hello Does anyone know why only one set of points of my dual points 73 240Z automatic is sparking? Also, is it possible to try and get the engine running by using gas out of a bottle, since the fuel tank is being reconditioned? Thanks

My 1971 240Z has developed a pull to the drivers side. It is bad enough that at highway speed the car will switch lanes in about 7 seconds if you let go of the wheel. I have checked the camber, caster and toe on the front end. Everything seems to be fine and balanced left to right. The tire pressures are all within 1psi of each other. The ride height is even side to side and the front is about 0.25" lower than the back. The car corners and brakes normally. I'm scratching my head on this one. Any suggestions?

I have the dash out to do some work on it and benand I need to take the car over to a mechanic friend of mine to finish up a speedometer cable problem that I paid him for and he did not do it correct. So, is there a way to drive the Z with the dash out? Also, I need to put some sort of heat barrier inside the car. What is a inexpensive way to do that? What is the best stuff to do that? I know there is DynaPad.

I just installed the Pertronix Ignitor with their 3.0 ohm coil and bypassed the ballast resistor. The car actually runs very well after a timing adjustment. However, I noticed that the tach doesnt rev past 4.5k under hard acceleration. Any idea what would cause this and what can remedy the situation? The tach operated fine when I was using the original points and ballast. No bouncing, no nothing...just reliable. Now it's all funny! Is something going wrong in the electric circuit?

What are the signs the carbs are clogging up? Last night I was driving the car and it seemed like it lost almost all power and was running on 3 cylinders. The car had no power, could hardly rev and was constantly back firing. Pulled the plugs and the front 3 are half brown/half black and the back 3 are brown but were soaking wet. Would that indicate that the rear carb was stuck open? If you shut the car off it would be fine until you got on it while driving then it would suddenly run like total crap again. Any thoughts? Its got a pertronix on it now with a new coil, but it was running like a top all day then just suddenly started running like crap. Does it soun…

Hi I'm new to the forums, just got my 260z a week ago. And I have to say I'm having quite the adventure with this car. I'm coming from an automatic 05 scion tC so this is my first classic/manual car. My question is I've had some trouble these last few days with the choke. From what I understand its used to warm an engine from a cold start with a rich a/f mix. When I first got the car I would hardly have to apply it at all and it would start and idle fine. This morning I tried starting it with the choke barely on and it wouldn't fire up. It sparked after I pulled it all the way back, but after giving it a good 10 min to warm up and trying to wean it off it just would no…
