We just had a problem develop with our '74 260Z. When the brake pedal is depressed, the engine revs. The brake pedal is also very hard and it takes a lot of strength to push down. Any thoughts/solutions would be greatly appreciated, as this is currently our only running vehicle.

Hey everyone! 1976 280Z, 192XXX mi. (stolen and then recovered...different story haha) I really didn't want to have to post this, but my beloved Z has been acting strange. While driving, the car will sputter, but won't die. Like it'll hesitate and then come back to live violently, shocking the drivetrain and terrifying any passengers in the car. On the freeway in 5th it's less pronounced because of the gearing, it'll feel like the car is trying to turn off momentarily. So it'll feel smooth and then a small hicup with a loss in power. When the hicup's are more severe I can smell fuel, so it makes me think it's electrical or the plugs getting fouled by oil. Honestly, I t…

Folks, I'm hesitant to post here because its not like my Z is by the side of the road somewhere, it isn't, its in my garage, but I do think I need to get this figured out quickly. 1972 240Z. Stock in any potential source of the vibration. Haven't done anything recently to the brakes, suspension, wheels, or tires. The vibration is noticeable if you are on the look out (feel out?) for it at around 30 mph, by 40 mph noticeable, by 50 mph annoying, by 60 mph getting scary. The vibration only occurs when the car is in gear and begins with the lightest touch on the brakes, its intensity increasing with pedal pressure. Occurs with gradual increase in pedal pressure or sharp b…

OK. I'm stumped and I have searched the forums and and tried everything that I've found, but I cannot get my car to start. It is a 1970 240z with the stock ignition. I recently pulled it into the garage, running rough, shut it off, and now it won't start. I first checked for spark at the plug, but there was no spark, so I checked at the main wire from the ignition coil. No spark there either. I do have 12v to the coil when the car is switched on and when cranking. BTW, it cranks over strongly. I have replaced the coil, points, condenser, ballast resistor, rotor, wires, and plugs. (Not the distributor cap. Couldn't find one locally.) I even purchased a second co…

This is kicking my butt, and I don't want to break anything. What is the best way to remove the gas fller hose on a 1971 240Z? I have disconnected the gas tank, vent hose, and removed the 3 screws on top and bottom. Thanks, Kevin

so ive got another wierd problem with this 72 240z of mine. when i get going abut 60 mph it soundslike a lawnmower and boggs down till i get to maybe 45 miles an hour. But it cruises just fine at about 50-55. oh and it does this up hills too. i can take hills only about 25 mph. all of my emmisions crap is removed. ive replaced my fuel pump and filter, flushed my lines and cleaned the parts on the tank that the fuel comes out of with a clothes hanger and compressed air. pulled my carbs apart and cleanedthem out. steve at z therapy set my float bowls for me. and i replaced my points and checked my timing.. still does it... anyone have any idea what i should try next? someo…

I've got a 75 280z that is in incredible condition, with the exception of the fuel tank. I was filling it up at a gas station amidst a road trip when I heard a noise, looked under the back and saw the gas trickling out in a steady stream. I am very vigilant when it comes to checking under the car for leaks of any kind (I had a break fluid leak for a bit that I repaired, but ever cautious now) - so this thing apparently had started to rust through, and at that moment, it rusted through enough around the nipples to cause a leak. I've been stranded in Greenfield, MA for over a week. The repair guys said this is not a patchable job, and that they could not locate a tank. So, …

I have an 85 k mile 72 240z I started to restore someone recomended a mechanic who swore he knew these cars in and out . The job was simple to put a new head on my car which ive owned 15 years and never had engine trouble other than the head . I got back my car and the head sounded to loud I told the mechanic he swore it was fine and I drove it a while but I was still not sure . I planned a trip with my kid and I called the mechanic before I left and asked if he was sure the car was fine he said yes and I left . On the way over my car ran great but when i got to where i was going the temp gauge was fluctuating alot and I called him he said it was ok so on the way home my …
