A couple of days ago my '71 first series 240Z refused to start and run. Came with a Jacobs Energy Pak when I got it. Appears that the switch for "Computer" or "Conv Ign" is bad; it has 3 large cracks in the switch housing and "crunches" when switched from one position to the other. Decided to remove the Jacobs and replace with something else. When doing this, I discovered that my L24 has a D6K82-01 distributor which I think is from a later (1983?) 280ZX. The module looks like an E12-92 in that it has 2 terminals on top and 2 on the side. I cannot locate anything on it stating it is an E12-92; just IGM-08 and made in Japan. Nothing indicating Nissan or Datsun origina…

I have a 1974 260z with a 2.6L and the harmonic balancer has 2 pulleys and the inner pulley has separated. I was wonder if anyone would know what different years of balancer/pulley would fit the 74 motor. Im just now starting to search for parts. Thank you.

Looking for some advice. Last night at autocross, it seemed that every time I exited a tight corner, my car was loading up and missing on acceleration. When done with my run it wasnt until i rev the crap out of it and blew it out that it was running good again. Ive never had this issue street driving no matter how aggresive only when taking slower turn after turn like in autocross. Its a 73 240 with triple 44 mikuni, isky camm, 500/300, stroker crank 3.1, t5 trans, motorsport header, kn filters, act clutch, light flywhell and dampner, msd ignition etc.. Is this something I will have to live with or is there a problem with the floats or jets of the like. I dont have alot…

Looking for a little help, I am rebuilding a 73 240 had the eng. totally rebuilt everything seems fine runs great. I had a after market cam put in and the cam lobes have oil holes in them but I also have a cam oil tube spray bar and was told that having both will make the oil psi low. when the eng warms up the oil psi is to low at idle. Now I'm just trying to decide on the fix. I was thinking that since the cam itself has oil ports that I could just cap off the spray bra. But was told by a friend of a friend that using just the cam lube ports would increase the psi but would not supply enough oil to the rockers. He suggested upgrading the oil pump to a turbo oil pump…

Well I've finally gotten to the long awaited step of removing my engine! We hooked up the engine hoist and started pulling it out, while trying to seperate it from the tranny the rear driver side "loop" on the engine for attaching the hoist broke off and nearly took one of my fingers with it haha. On a less funny note how should I remove the engine now? It's in a rather precurious position, it's still hooked on to the loop at the passenger front side of the engine and now the engine is hanging lopsided and the driver side engine mount isn't even aligned with where it rests, it's forward and low which is not good, so i can't lower it back down correctly... Anyhow any help …

I replaced the fuel sending unit on my 74 today. I thought I had a new O-ring, but I couldn't find it. When I removed the old sending unit, the O-ring appeared fine, so I decided to re-use it. I tweaked on the retaining ring a little because I wasn't smart enough to leave well enough alone. It puts plenty of pressure against the fuel sending unit and O-ring. However, when I tried to put in some gas, it leaked at the sending unit. I got the gas level below the sending unit and worked on it some more. I think the first time I put the ring back on it may have slid over to the side some and not remained centered in the opening. I put the ring back in place again, carefully en…

I can't find one on ebay, rockauto, autozone, carquest, napa, or pepboys. What do i do now, is there anyway to rebuild it? my front brakes occasionally seize up. this is driving me crazy because i just dropped 250$ on a complete brake system overhaul. New master, booster, pads, shoes, calipers, and drums. Also, it's not the flex hoses i replaced those first, and when i hit the proportioning valve on the firewall they magically work again...

I am having trouble seating the weatherstripping on my 76 Z driver's door. The gap on the upper rail (shown in the attached photo) is supposed to exist, correct? A mechanic attempted to fix, but the door seal was too tight (trouble opening door). I will likely buy a new door seal but I appreciate your advise. Also the window has to be pushed the last 1/8 of an inch to close tightly. Any ideas rebuilding the crank mechanism, is there a replacement kit available? Thank you.
