Should I worry? 1 2

So yesterday I was helping a friend with his car and we came to the point where we had to go to the store for something. So I drove my Z about half way there we ran over a belt, (and I just randomly thought to myself I would if that was mine) after that I noticed the temp gauge was pegged all the way at 250. I tapped the gauge to see if maybe it had broken or the connection had become loose but it stayed there. Turns out that my belt (my only belt) either broke or fell off, so my alt, crank, and water pump weren't getting any rotations. My concern is could this have done some serious damage to the motor? I didn't stop immediately. Any recommendations on this would be help…

Well I am replacing my clutch slave and master to hopefully fix the problem of my clutch pedal not getting any pressure. Well the slave is replaced and the problem still persists, so while trying to get the master off, the fitting for the line won't come off which in terms has stripped it. Look likes I need a whole new line, but I need the size and length of the main line so I can make one. Any help on the line issue, or just my clutch issue in general would be wonderful. (and yes I tried bleeding the system to gets some pressure back in the pedal but that didn't work.)

So I am trying to sort out a fuel gauge problem by a process of elimination, and at the back are 3 wires/contacts black, yellow and green. I am going to test the gauge with a 6v battery but which of the contacts do I use the tester on...?? Thanks, JK

I have been having trouble with the engage point on my clutch. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?42242-Inconsistent-engage-point-noisy-clutch I have a theory and wanted to pass it by the experts here for comments. I found that my slave cylinder sometimes does not release entirely. This results in a high engage point and an overworked release bearing. When it is not releasing the clutch folk in held very tightly and the clutch peddle is rigid. If I manually release the pressure on the hydraulic system then the clutch peddle is less rigid, the fork is moveable by hand and the engage point is very close to the floor. I believe that this release of hydra…

I've been working on a Pertronix install for a while on a 1972 that had a OEM ignition and need help. The car ran before the install but not after. Cannot get a spark out of the Flame-Thrower coil. I know this specifically, because I broke down and attached a long spark plug wire to the coil - held on - and cranked the engine. Nothing, not even a tickle. I was thinking I had the coil wired wrong, so I rearranged the wires to the coil a number of different ways each time turning over the engine. I really wish one combination would have been a shocking experience. Literally! I will be honest, I did have the coil wired wrong. I had the Pertonix Red wire on the Neg., and Bla…

The metal fuel lines on the 240Z that I am working on (has not run since 1989) have quite a bit of brown goo in them. I blew them down from the engine compartment end and air will pass through the lines but blobs of brown tar came out at the tank end. I sprayed half a can of carb cleaner in the engine side of the lines and followed with more air but it's not working very well. What is the most effective way of getting dried up gas out of the metal fuel lines?

Eating Humble Pie in my '78 on I64. Yum! Failing pump? Fuel tank siphon tube leak? 1 2 3

So we're headed out I64 to see family in Richmond for Easter, with an almost full tank of 93 octane. I'm feeling pretty confident in my '78, which has run like a top ever since I straightened it out early last September. (My inspection sticker says 9-11, BTW.) Along about a half hour from our destination, as we're tooling along just as happy as can be, my engine starts sputtering and then dies within a 10 or 15 sec period. As I'm rolling, I try restarting a few times, to no avail. I coast to a stop along the shoulder, and I'm unable to restart. At this point I have about 7/8 of a tank of fuel. I had been checking gauges periodically, because I had noticed my voltag…

Took the sender unit out again, tested it and its reading nearly 12v...?? is this right, shorted the wires, still no reading and the wires start getting warm!! Anyone got any ideas, or wiring info that might help, 1974 260Z 2 seater, by the way.

My first drive of the year didn't go as well as I had planned. The car fired up fine on the first crank although it did feel a bit rougher than I remember from last summer. took it outside to idle for a bit to let the battery charge and it barely had the power to drive out of the garage because it was running so rough. If i let the car idle on its own it will just stumble and die, it wont run unless i keep my foot in it. Judging by the exhaust i think it is burning oil too. I have checked the basics like the ignition system and the fluids, they all look fine. As far as i know this motor has never been pulled apart and rebuilt, does it sound like it is finally time?

My temp gauge has been erratic, so I bought a coolant temp sensor. Beck Arnley Part# 158-0134. Rock Auto confirms this is correct sensor... http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php There are three somethings threaded into the thermostat housing. The Beck Arnley part is 18mm, I took one out that was 23mm, the female plug end on the new sensor wasn't right. The other sensor that is in there I didn't bother to remove because the plug on that was not going to work with the new sensor either. Am I looking in the wrong spot? Is the cataloging wrong? What three things are tapped in to the thermostat housing?
